Photo may have been taken by the grim reaper as he approached your home. My Gawd! How did you ever manage to get home in that thing without crashing and/or killing somebody? (should used green font)

(edit)...you'll have to change your signature line...you have something fun now. If you got the track pack, you might even be able to keep up with a well set up 944. ;)

Nice car Chris! congrats.

When I was shopping for a newish car, the Mustang made #2 choice.

Enjoy.

The Mustangs are seriously good looking cars. Ford seems to quietly be doing some things right. No bail out money, great looking & performing pony cars, an aluminum pickup with the highest safety rating. I think you have to give them credit.

Seriously great looking cars. The GT350 is an exceptionally desirable car in my book, particularly considering the reasonable price point. Ford is on a roll and making some fantastic cars.

LOL! Good one.

I have the previous body style in the same color (V6 model for me) and it sure is pretty! I'd be interested to drive the new model and see how different the independent rear suspension feels.

I agree wholeheartedly, Ford is doing some good things compared to other US automakers.

Lots of folks where I work (Boeing) think Allen Mulally had a lot to do with that. He is a legend around the Puget Sound. He's retired from Ford now, but his reputation was as a smart, hard working executive who didn't tolerate sycophants and yes men.

Growing up in KY in the 60s and 70s, the only "sports cars" were Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes. Since moving back here last year, that still seems to hold, with the Mustang the clear favorite - if a guy here in his 20s doesn't drive a truck, he drives a Mustang. We've got a smattering of the new Camaros, the occasional Challenger, but they're very outnumbered by Fords.

The Porsche mystique still holds though - a kid at work has a base 986 w/hardtop that impresses everyone; they refuse to believe he spent less than they did on their domestics.

That's what got me into the dealership, but they are selling for $10k - $20k over MSRP. ($56k - $66k) Dealer talked me into taking a GT on a test drive. I was impressed by how well it soaked up bumpy back roads yet went exactly where I wanted it to. The torque also makes it very easy to drive. I was surprised to see that the car weighed in at 3700 lbs, because it felt 500 lbs. lighter.

I opted for a pretty stripped-down version: 6 speed, no navigation, no leather, etc. Only options are a spare tire and Pirelli P-Zeros. I was considering the GT performance package (Brembo brakes, bigger radiator, oil pressure and oil temperature gauges, and a stiffer suspension), but I honestly think the "base" GT has the perfect compromise between performance and daily driving in the suspension setup. I feel like this car can be as aggressive or docile as I want it to be.

Thinking about it, you have a good package for street/highway driving. Brembos are great brakes, but for normal road use, their stopping power isn't all that much better than the standard package...only when things get hot, like with track use, does their advantage really shine.

Enjoy the ride...:)

Pretty amazing that the V6 versions still have 300 HP and get ~28 MPG on the highway.

Yep, that's why I didn't pay the premium for the V8. I do miss the rumble though!

Very cool, congrats.

Not getting a V8 in one of these is like going to a hooker for a hug.
