Monaco F1

Surprisingly no Mercs at the front after P1 and P2. Let's see what quali brings.

No matter how boring it looks, IMO always a good race. Even though
there is seldom many passes.

Big weekend of racing, F1, Indy 500, and a Nascar race also. Maybe even MotoGP.

Hope Kyvat does well, feel badly for him losing his ride. Guess it was his own fault.
When you plow into Vettel every race, something's gotta give!

Of all the F1 races I would love to go to Monaco the most. I am sure it would be totally stupid expensive and I would never have access to the cool stuff so I likely will never go.

I want to go as the older brother to Rosberg and have him show me the town. ;)

It is not as expensive as you'd think if you don't mind train ride to the race. Race tickets are basically the same price as any other F1 race. If you go as far as Nice, the room premium for race weekend drops significantly, and it's only a 25 Euro 30 min train ride. I you go an hour out to Cannes (1 hour train), rooms are normal rates. ...But you're right, it's not the best race to attend. You can't see much of the track, it's hard to get around, and the clubs and restaurants are packed with billionaires and VIPs.

My wife and I rented a tiny guest room in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin for $150 per night. There are hundreds of rooms for rent in the surrounding villages race weekend for $100-$300 per night.

My wife says we're going next year, I think a Mediterranean cruise that stops at Monte Carlo is the best way for us to take it in. She has been to M.C. 3 times but
never on race weekend. She didn't particularly like it there, but thinks to be there on race weekend would be pretty special.

On her last cruise she liked Dubrovnik the best of all the ports of call. Just sayin'.

So if I'm still on the right side of the sod, we may give it a try.

Europe is no longer expensive for us. At least for the time being. The Scandinavian countries... now that's a different story. I would love to attend some day.

Id like a scandi f1 race, certainly more than Azerbaghan, Russia and Dubai. Montreal is a great race, Melbourne is awesome, Nurb is surprisingly not fun in F1 config. Spa rocks. Would like to see an F1 race at Le Mans.

Monaco is an expensive snobby parade. Fun but not high on the list from what I did and know.

Oh, and I havent been to Osstereich/Red Bull Ring but it looks so go$#@mn beautiful on tv I have to put that on the list.

I drove by the track last year during the race weekend. The valley is gorgeous!

I've been to Monaco, got to watch a F1 race from the pit wall and inside a garage but it wouldn't be my first track choice if I was paying, Monza or Barcelona would be though.

The speeds they do through the streets is insane, television does not show this well at all.

Interesting dynamic for tomorrows race, rain. Forecast is for T-storms am and steady rain pm. Rain makes for interesting racing.

URY914 05-29-2016 03:33 AM

It will be a wet start.

I say 4 cars will be out on lap 1.

Only four! This should be wet and wild. BTW who's the rain master these days??

URY914 05-29-2016 03:52 AM

Just announced it will start behind the safety car singe file. That takes all the fun out of it.

Watching this without cable. RBTF via VPN.

Agree on Montreal. The island is super for the race but the city really turns out for the weekend.

Pit crew lost the race for their driver.

The Justin Bieber factor was just weird.

Yeah, my first thought, too when it happened. That was terrible. Worse than how Hamilton lost the race last year.

And Kvyat's move on Mags reinforced why he was demoted.

Good race, though. The rain makes things interesting, as opposed to the usual procession in the Principality.

RB gifted him the win.

chapo 05-29-2016 12:35 PM

Hammy and Bieber the perfect pairing

Scott Douglas 05-29-2016 12:52 PM

The wrong driver won this race today.
I'm sure the crew of the second place team feels lower than a snake's belly.
I'll bet it never happens again to them.
