iPod Touch Won't Sync- Corrupt Backup is the Reason.

Hi,

Just wanted to change the songs on my first Gen iPod Touch. It wouldn't sync, gave me a corrupt backup message- I deleted all the backups and even did a restore. Still won't sync and now doesn't have any music on it.

Anyone have any ideas on fixing the problem?

Thanks.

Factory reset, google it and reload.

Thanks Patz.

I found out how to reset and did it, now I get this message when I try the restore. I updated to the latest iTunes version a couple hours ago and restarted the computer too.

Did some more googling and it seems that maybe Apple has decided not to support the first gen iPod touch.

One poster suggested to remove iTunes and reinstall an earlier version- yea, right, probably lose all my songs or something. I did pull out an older computer though and was able to restore the touch and currently it appears to be down loading songs as well.

My hope is that after it is refreshed and running, maybe it will let me backup and down load on my regular computer with new songs- might be wishful thinking?

Requested a call from Apple support and they called at the scheduled time; gentleman was very nice and polite, but didn't have an answer- put me on hold and tried to find the answer. Best he came up with was that they stopped supporting in 2012- well, I had just sync' it a couple of months ago on the latest iTunes, so it worked recently.

Good news for me was that I also was wondering about my first gen mini, which he also said wasn't supported, so while on hold, I retrieved it from the 911 and plugged it into the computer and it sync'd right up and updated my songs! Only the old hard drive versions of iPod will work with my car stereo, so that is more important to me than the iTouch working.

So, might just have to get a new touch for the home stereo, or I have a nano that could work.
