Gordie Howe "Mr Hockey" passed away at age 88
Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe dies at 88 years old
Another legend passes on. He played for the Red wings from 1946-1971, that's an impressively long career.

A bad couple of weeks in the sporting world - Gordie is the third hockey player to pass although he much like Ali to his sport, was in a class on his own. Both men transcended their respective sports in many ways & were so much more than just "athletes".

Wow...grew up in Detroit. Was a kid in those days and the Red Wings were everything! Gordie Howe was a God.
The man upstairs is putting together one heck of a hockey team. God speed Gordo.

A great tribute on Sports Net West in Canada.
He was an amazing hockey player/athlete. Same age as my dad will be this year.

Mr Hockey battles one of the world's greatest (& my all time favorite) defense man (who happens to be a Bruin)
  Anyone who played the game back then will tell you that: -off the ice, Gordie had a heart as big as a house...nicest guy you'd ever meet. -on the ice, Gordie was the toughest, meanest SOB to play the game. They hated to play against him even though they admired him. A true professional. A real gentleman. He elevated the sport, not himself.
