My buddy was one of those dogs. When he was young he was healthy and full of fun and life. But as he started getting a little older he went blind, then eventually deaf, he had numerous cancer surgeries, 1 hip surgery, dementia, banged his poor head on everything. He was almost to the point where I was going to put diapers on him.

I stuck with him and he stuck with me until he finally passed after 13 years (got him from the pound est. 3 years old). I didn't realize until after he passed how much time and attention he required toward the end.

For those thinking about adopting a dog with special needs, good for you. There is a special place in heaven.
But please, make sure you mean it.
it is work and it only gets harder. Make sure you are really up to it.
