Princeton Nutrients Vitapulse: "advanced" 2nd generation antioxidant supplement
I've been reading many positive reviews regarding Vitapulse. This supplement reportedly contains the "latest and greatest" 2nd generation antioxidants:
CoQ10 (coenzyme q10) NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) PQQ Na2 (Pyrroloquinoline Quinine Disodium salt) VitaPulse | Princeton Nutrients It claims to lower LDL and raise HDL AND substantially increase "energy, vitality, and short term memory safely with no side effects". I've known about CoQ10 for sometime but not the others. Has anybody tried this? I've just put in an order....we'll see! Otherwise, what are your go to supplements that make you "feel good and healthy"? |
Did some googling - sounds like a bunch of snake oil.

^Maybe?
I'll give it a 90 day trial and report back. My cholesterol levels are mildly elevated so I'll probably get some blood work done at that time as well. |
Update.....
So I've been taking PN's Vitapulse (1 capsule per day) and Ultra Krill ( 2 capsules per day) as recommended for just over 5 weeks now. My BP numbers have seen an overall positive effect:
Before I was typically reading 135/80 but I'm now reading 130/70 on average, so about a 10 point drop on the diastolic pressure! Pretty cool! ...but that's just my observation i.e. this is not a scientific study by any means, needless to say! For the record I'm a 56 year old (very much heterosexual!....OK, I didn't need to add that....lol!) male; 5'11" @ 175 lbs; I'm in pretty good shape...I exercise regularly 4-5 times per week (weights/cardio). PN recommends a 90 day trial so I'll keep up with this routine, checking BP regularly and will get my cholesterol numbers checked sometime in September! Is anybody else taking these supplements...or something similar? |
I don't take supplements, but I would like to share something I believe is healthy. I went to see my Dr last week because of some under arm irritation I've been experiencing since getting frozen shoulder. I had never had a problem before this & used antiperspirant since I was a teenager. The frozen shoulder is better, but the irritation persisted. I tried deodorant & that just kind of masks the smell.
He suggested I switch to a product called Crystal It is a natural mineral salt deodorant. You wet it & put it on like regular deodorant. The stuff really works, I've been using it for a week & no more funk. I had to buy it from a supplement store. It was about $4 & is supposed to last for a year. |
I had to stop using anti-perspirant due to rashes. Then the deodorant only started doing the same thing. The Crystal works. And after a couple of weeks, I'm able to use deodorant again. I use the crystal first. You can get it on Amazon

it works.. and last a long time.. takes getting used to.. as folks see / feel.. little or no residue.. Rika |

Go get a Cardiac calcium screening, also known as Coronary artery calcium score. Takes 5 minutes. Lay on a table get scanned, go home. If your score comes back low enough you can ignore the high cholesterol. The Japanese have been studying LDL levels and found that for those over 50 elevated LDL is related to a longer life span. |
Supplements are snake oil placebo for people who are scientifically ignorant.

BUT...(taken this am...OK, the date set on my BP monitor is off by 1 day...should be 7-20....I'll reset that!): http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1469038015.jpg My BP, especially my diastolic reading, has NEVER been this low! .....so I'm starting to believe that MAYBE the second generation antioxidants might be more than snake oil??? |
placebo effect

The CCS test is meant to provide the patient with a risk factor for developing coronary heart disease on a 10 year horizon BUT it does not address Cerebrovascular disease i.e. stroke, another facet of athero/arteriosclerosis. |

BUT if it is indeed the placebo effect I would expect it to be short-lived....correct? |
Have you changed anything with the addition of the supplements? Diet? More exercise? No alcohol?
As far as placebo, I guess you could stop taking the supplements and see if the BP goes back up... |
NO changes in diet, exercise level, never smoked tobacco, and I still drink! :D .....in moderation! But at pretty much the same level as before.
The only change would be that I stopped taking Crestor (Rosuvastatin) @ 5 mg/day about three months ago. For the last decade or so my BP has typically been around the low 130s systolic and around the low 80s diastolic. While my systolic may occasionally dip into the high 120s, I have never, ever had a diastolic reading in the high 60s before....around 77 has been my lowest. |
much can be said about the placebo effect...I maintain that everything that is, willed itself to be. The power of belief is enormous.
|
Just measured this am (I reset the BP monitor to the correct date):
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1469112833.jpg .....still placebo effect?:p For those of you that are interested in this thread (???) I'll keep posting these on a regular basis, FYI! |
