Any of your dirt bikers have the Suomi MX Jump Helmet? Or anything LIGHT?

Guys,

I am starting to ride at the local OHV and plan on doing some trail riding in fall - it is time to buy some better gear. I am wearing a cheapo street bike helmet that's almost 4 lbs. Having done impact sports in my youth I don't have the best neck and do feel it after riding - I think it'd be a really good idea to get the lightest helmet possible - within reason - still has to be safe and also reasonably priced.

I did an evening worth of research and the best I can find is the Suomy MX Jump at 2.6 lbs. and at around $330.

Before I pull the trigger on this helmet, I was going to ask if any of you have experience with it? If not, maybe you have something else under 3 pounds you really like? Are there lighter helmets than 2.6 that are still safe?

Thanks!

George

I would go with something dot & snell approved. If they even make that for MX helmets?
I know some guys that stunt use a cheapo Bell helmet (dot & snell), then take off the visor and run goggles.

Thanks AZ - It is DOT and ECE approved. My research shows that these are both good standards for the riding I am planning to do. The old SNELL 2005 may be too stiff for lower to medium impacts.
