Creature ID challenge
 

Spider like creature found in the Palmdale, Ca area. Not sure exactly what it is. Help from the brain trust appreciated.

Spiders don't have 10 legs, so not a spider.

What does it taste like?

Vinegaroon, or wind scorpion.

Definitely a wind scorpion / vinegaroon. The southern Kalifornistan desert is crawling with them.

That guy on survival that eats stuff all over the world to show how you can survive on local critters updates the ideal that everything tastes like chicken. His description of almost every bug or worm is that it tastes like 3 week old shrimp.

That's a nasty looking bug, don't touch it. ;)

It'll be bursting out of your chest in a few days.

Not many calories in something that small. I would avoid it like the plague. I could handle living in the north country(northern US States and Canada) in the bush. Interesting tv program called Alone where the survivors have to survive on fish, mice etc. The south country has less appeal somehow with weird spiders, snakes etc. :eek:
