some people are real scumbags !

So today my wife was taking our dog to the vet to have the staples removed from his back surgery. My wife is driving her RAV4 so it's a fairly large/visible vehicle and it was 9:00 in the morning. She is at a red light waiting to turn right and has her blinker on. There was traffic coming so no way to right on red. Then bang she gets hit from behind ! Her first thought was is the dog OK because he's all the way in the back in his dog carrier cage . While she is processing her thoughts scumbag pulls out and around her and takes off ! She saw the driver and his young daughter in the front seat but the tag was a paper one and was hard to read. I survey the damage when I got home the plastic bumper cover has a crack/buckled spot on the top in the center and a very slight imperfection in the seam where it meets the body on the passenger side. So I either live with the damage or find a new/used one hopefully in the same color. I'm sure the scumbag ran because he either didn't have a license, insurance, was a felon or all the above. Nice of him to teach his kid the skill of being a piece of $hit :(

Time to get a digital dash cam. I don't leave home w/o it!

I was looking at dash cams at Costco last night and almost bought it. Now I know why people have them. Man, I'm sorry about that.

Call your Ins Agent. My Auto Ins co considers hit and run to be a non chargeable claim (rates don't go up) and it may even be Comprehensive or Uninsured motorist so deductible will be very little.
They will have you go get a Police Report done and take it from there.

9:00 am, kid in car? I'll bet it's a daily routine, babysitter/work/school. I'd take a chance and look for him at same spot tomorrow.......

that really sucks. Since you didn't mention it, and the accident seemed fairly minor, I assume the missus and pup are both OK.

Now on to more important things. How is the pup doing? I'm guessing it's nice to have the staples out.

No...not almost bought it, as in I almost died in a car wreck.

Almost purchased the dash cam, but thought it was just a cool toy. I can see now that they can sometimes come in handy.

Leaving the scene of an accident could really screw up his day....go looking for him.

T77911S 07-08-2016 09:23 AM

yea it sucks.

wife got hit by kid driving a rental that was not in his name. no insurance and the renter told the police he was not authorized to drive it thus taking her off the liability,.
I thought the kid should have been arrested for stealing it if he was not authorized to drive it.

when I use to ride bikes years ago I have had adults do things to me with kids in the car. my thought was good way to teach your kids to have respect for others.

I made a point when my daughter was born NOT to do anything or say anything that would influence her in a negative way.

Hope you wife and pup are okay...
My wife saw a three car fender bender on surface streets the other day, two of the three sped off and left the victim behind.
My wife could not believe they left the scene of an accident.
I can only guess they, 1. Had no insurance or 2. Had no license or 3. Had a warrant... or any combination of those three.

For those that asked yes the wife and pup are fine and yes he seems happy to have the staples out :D . I'm over the incident life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

Glad to hear the dog is doing well. I have bought 2 RAV4 bumpers for my wife off ebay. I was actually able to order them painted to the correct color off of ebay. The first one was nice, the second was just ok in terms of the paint quality. Both were packaged well. Here is the seller: mbiauto on eBay

My Mom had a hit and run driver mess up the rear bumper on her Crown Vic. I was looking into what it would take to fix it myself when she drug the rear bumper over a curb leaving a steep drive at a local shopping center. Danged if it didn't straighten it out perfectly!
