2002 Boxster won't start

I haven't use my boxster for a while and the battery went dead. I replaced the battery with a new one and started right away. Took it for a spin and everything was fine until I turned off the car and it won't start again. Also, i noticed that the passenger door won't lock anymore and the dashboard lock doesn't work. I tried to disconnect the battery for the computer to reset but didn't work. Any advise on how to fix the issue is highly appriciated. Thanks.

Your alternator is probably dead. It's not recharging the battery, which is why the new battery is dead. The rest of the car doesn't have enough juice to operate with an almost dead battery, which is why the rest of the items you mention, all of which need electricity to function, aren't working.

Whatever it is, it is an electrical problem. I'd start with the alternator.

I like MRM's theory, you could easily test this by trying to jump start it .

Start with the battery after charging on 2amp setting.
Test with a DVOM handheld voltmeter you can find anywhere for $15-20.
Do not connect across the battery in Milliamp settings. Use Voltage mode only.

Should be roughly 12.6V fully charged.
Below 12.2V is almost discharged for a new battery.(25%)
Below 12.0V and left sitting for a while might mean lead-acid battery is permanent toast.

Running Voltage at the battery should be 13.5-14.5V (I think some vehicles are different).
The higher voltage is needed from the alternator to push current-amps into the battery chemical mass.

After running/charging, be aware this creates a false charge on the surface of the battery.
Operating the lights or defrost for a minute bleeds off this false charge and gives you the true chemical state and voltage.
