Not saying he deserved to die, but at what point does one accept at least some responsibility? Where's the outrage over all the shootings this past weekend in Chicago?

Were the LEOs justified? Don't know.
Was the dead man guilty? Don't know.
What I do know is this:
- I a LEO believes there is a gun on a resistant suspect they are not going to wait until they get shot to use deadly force.
- If a person is facing two LEOs who are allowed to use deadly force when needed and they tell you to get down, you get down. Don't resist. Don't struggle. Just get down or you'll get yourself hurt.
-Life's tough. Its tougher when you are stupid.

You can hear them hit him with the Tazer, then the camera gets in focus.
He didn't go down from the Tazer, so they took him down.
Then, someone in the crowd FIRST shouts "He's got a gun", not the LEOs.
Then you can see the LEOs tense up, and THEN one of them says "Gun!"
Then the second LEO that's sitting on top of the guy draws and shoots twice.
Then the camera goes down and somebody shoots something three more times.


That's my take on it, that no one asked for.

They will totally get off. We will never know if he actually had a gun or not, but they will say he did.

Have no clue what lead up to or escalated this but looking at two very large LEO's seemingly strongholding the so called perp, would think no reason for popping him. My first opinion, did the punk pull his (if in fact had) gun on the cops? Surely looks like they had him down pinned - cops fail and guilty.

We are looking at s Sh.t storm on this one. Someone called the cops to say that he pointed a gun at them. Cops got the message on the way to the scene he's got a gun. They drive up, confront, he doesn't comply, they tase, didn't work. Tackle him and while he's on the ground, seen in video, one cop see's the gun and says "he's got a gun", second officer shoots at point blank, numerous times. A gun was on him. This guy also had a rap sheet fairly long. Coroners report said he died from multiple shots to the back and chest. No head shots. Many different sides on this, all with valid points. Friend with the DEA called to ask if I was "packing" and has heard from others that this is gonna get "messy". Lots of civil rights folks here saying "look at me". Both cops white, this is a black area of town and they only had about 4 years in the force. Now Feds are taking over, even a call from Barak himself.....

As recent as 5 years ago, i was a very strong supporter of LEOs and would go out on a limb to argue in their favor in most cases.

Too many of their actions have changed all that.

When they went after Christopher Dorner and the ****ing cowards SHOT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT they showed their true colors. they showed us all what they were made of, they showed us all what they think about themselves and what they think about it us.

I believe that because of their unions and "diversity" and "progressive recruitment tactics", Many of them now see John Q. Public as the enemy and will willingly and vigorously use deadly force at the drop of a hat if the person of interest gives them the slightest EXCUSE!

They should not be law enforcement officers. They should not be allowed to carry a gun. They shouldn't be allowed to drive a ****ing car.
Too many of these loosers will shoot your dog because THEY CAN.
They will beat you up if you flinch or don't do whatever stupid **** they yell, BECAUSE THEY CAN.

They will shoot you if you show even the slightest sign of resistance or independence, BECAUSE THEY CAN.

And the worst part is, it makes the GOOD cops look bad too.

Having said all that:

"They told him not to move," he said. "He was asking them what he did wrong."

He said the officers then used a stun gun on Sterling at least once before shooting.
Both got on top of him, and one ordered him not to move, Muflahi said.

The one closest to Sterling's legs yelled "gun," he said, and the shots followed.

Yeah ole' Abdullah is making sure he says what he can so his store doesn't get looted and burned down. The cops did confiscate his video surveillance system and their body cameras fell off during the scuffle. Not sure about this but don't they need a warrant to get a the security system before they confiscate it??
This area of Baton Rouge is riddled with crime. Normally a murder or 2 every night, if not a murder at least a shooting. Cops are on edge even when there isn't a call. Wouldn't be cop in this town!!

So, possession of a gun is now a capital offense with the PO-PO acting as judge, jury and executioner?

I'd like to see where it says in the po po training manual that anytime you think some guy might have a gun you have the right to shot him dead on the spot.

I have family in LA. Most everybody carries a gun, for sure after dark.
To protect themselves from the real criminals. This guys was out at nite selling CDs & DVDs most surely would be carrying a gun.
This could have been a series of unfortunate circumstances.

and he choose not to learn from them..
then as a convicted criminal he choose to carry..
he knew the rules & probable outcome if caught..
as did the LEO's who confront some of these folks..
some go with little or no fuss..

not going back..

There is no question that the guy made some decisions that led to his death, should not have resisted, etc...

The only pertinent question is whether the cop or cops who shot him were justified under the law and policies of their Dept. That's not so cut and dry at this point.
