Isn't it the MLB All-Star break this week?

Coupon will be good for the first couple games after the All-Star game, though.

Awesome! I love Jersey Mikes. This JM is a couple blocks away from Aase Motors. I'm taking my car in this week to weld the coolant pipes and a stage 2 clutch. I'll pick up a few sandwiches for the Aase boys.

Thanks man.

Hell yeah!

I live here, It's a great place to be. we can get to more exciting towns for anything we want with a 30 minute drive but for piece and quiet It's a great place. It's also the town with the second highest rate of educated people in the State.

If you offered me to move my land and house anywhere in Los Angeles County even if it would double my house's value I wouldn't want to move.

U oughta b in politics....

"Second highest rate of educated people"....Ahhh does having CSUF in town have anything to so with that stat? So if those are the educated ones that means that the rest of the town folk have low foreheads...

In Fuller..ton....you are a lowlander surrounded by a sea of people in every direction.

I lived in the foothills where there was nothing but National Forest behind me...

Fullerton has come a long way since the olden days.

Here's what it used to look like:

And here is what it looks like today:

Fox theater a long time ago:

Fox theater today:

Yep, it's come a long ways:

Too bad they turned all the pawn shops into yuppie shops.
They even got rid of the adult book stores!

When I was in high school downtown Fullerton was pawn shops and seedy bars. You'd even see the occasional hooker on Harbor and Commonwealth. Its now an example of a successful downtown gentrification. Lots of hip bars, theater, and urban residential loft-combo retail. Great town, and thanks to extremely tough police givin out the occassional fatal asswuppin, very low crime.

In 1979 Cal state Fullerton won their first world series. Here's some of the players who were drafted:

5 Frank Vilorio, SS...................................Minnesota
8 Tim Wallach, 1B*...................................California
14 Lance Gore, LHP.........................................Atlant a
14 Dan Whitmer, C......................................California
15 Rich Rommel, RHP.................................California
20 Steve Till, C ......................................New York (N)
22 Greg Sporrer, INF* ................................San Diego

Wallach hit .391 that year with 23 dingers.

My brother pitched on that team and signed and went pro after his junior year, but never lost a game in high school or college.
He still holds the record for winning percentage.

I watched at least half their games that year.
That was coach Augie Garrido's era. One of the best college baseball coaches ever.

BTW...my sister teaches anthropology at CSUF, and has for 15 years.

Yeppers, Augie was the reason my brother picked CSUF when he had offers to go just about anywhere.

Trivia, who was Augie's assistant coach in the late 70's? (hint he coached in the world series 4 times as a head coach and a couple of times as an assistant))

Dave Snow is a former American college baseball coach. He served as head coach of the Loyola Marymount Lions baseball team, leading them to the 1986 College World Series and later as the head coach of the Long Beach State 49ers baseball team, whom he led to the College World Series in 1989, 1991, 1993, and 1998. He retired from coaching in 2001 after a 29 year career that also included a head coaching job at Los Angeles Valley College and time as an assistant to Cal State Fullerton coach Augie Garrido.[1][2]

August Edmun Garrido, Jr. (born February 6, 1939) is a former head coach in NCAA Division I college baseball and is current Special Assistant to the Athletic Director at the University of Texas. At the end of the 2016 season, Garrido compiled a collegiate record of 1975-919-9. He has taken his programs to 15 College World Series.

Coaching career
Garrido is a former head coach of the Texas Longhorns, where he had coached since 1997 and currently has a record of 824–427–2.

Garrido's teams have won five national titles (1979, 1984, 1995, 2002, 2005). He is one of only two coaches, along with Andy Lopez, to lead teams from more than one school (CSUF Titans and Texas Longhorns) to national titles, and is among the winningest college coaches in history. He is the first coach to guide teams to national championships in four different decades.

Additionally, Garrido has earned 15 trips to the College World Series, including eight at Texas, while garnering National Coach of the Year honors five times (1975, 1979, 1984, 1985, 2002), regional coach of the year accolades following six different seasons (1975, 1979, 1984, 1985, 2002, 2004) and conference coach of the year distinctions on three occasions (1987, 1995, 2002). Garrido's teams have won league championships in 20 different seasons.
