suggested reading on UML ?
Working on a BAS in Software Development, done with my business classes and almost done with an Operating Systems class. Just about finished re-doing coursework for Java as a refresher since I've not used it in 10+ years, so now I'm prepping for Fall term (one of the things I'm re-learning Java for).
In addition to more Java, I'm taking a UML/Analysis and Design class this coming semester... have a few hours between now and then. Anyone have recommendations on reading for an intro so I can get a head start? Thanks! |
You can run through the tutorials on Sparx, and download "Enterprise Architect" for free for 30 days.
None of my UML classes prepared me for actually presenting diagrams sadly. It's nice to say "hey we're using the standard models to show you." But management and execs never get it, so it's back to Visio always. Sparx Systems - UML 2 Tutorial |

Also have a look at this link for and introduction and the basics. It touches on all the different UML models, though in reality you will probably only use a few types depending on your role. |
