Fook these new style robo-calls

They start with "This is Todd from Ge Home Security. Can you hear me OK?" There are others, but there is always the phrase, can you hear me OK?

They must have some voice recognition built in, because they are somewhat responsive.

Keep calling me about Home Security systems....

The fed "do not call" list sure works....not.

fastfredracing 07-19-2016 07:22 AM

When I finally loose all my marbles, telemarketers will be my first victims. I get better than 10 calls a day , every day. Every morning, my answering machine is filled with this crap . http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1468941722.jpg

Did you enter a free drawing somewhere? I don't answer anything out of state anymore.

It's the TSA of telephone service.

fastfredracing 07-19-2016 07:23 AM

I notice an increase in the frequency in calls right after renewing my place on the " do not call list " I am sure that when you sign up, your information is sold

stomachmonkey 07-19-2016 07:24 AM

Have said it before

nomorobo.com

If your phone service supports simultaneous ringing you need to get it

It detects robo calls

Your phone will only ring once

Pretty accurate, catches better than 95% of them

I got one the other day that offered to pay off my student loans. I guess I can go get a student loan and then have them pay them off for me.

Another call was offering to extend the warranty on my cars. My 1986 El Camino with 345,000 miles would be perfect for a new extended warranty.

The canadian DNC list sort of works, lately I've only gotten "CRA" (IRS) calls that say I'm going to jail if I don't send money.
Plus calls from "windows support".

But they come in spurts, they haven't called in about a month now.

I recently dissolved an LLC and the sales calls for that business have increased.

Because scammers are really going to honor that...

Porsche-O-Phile 07-19-2016 09:33 AM

The same way criminals honor gun laws.

Just block everything that comes in from a number you don't recognize (and obviously don't answer). Easy on iPhone.

red-beard 07-19-2016 10:38 AM

Obviously, we can't block calls to the business line. These are coming in on my cell phone. We don't answer the home phone unless we know who is calling.

Not 100% fix but just like a throw away email address you can get a google voice number for those times you need to give out a number but don't want to.

No one gets my cell phone number if I can avoid it.

look 171 07-19-2016 10:52 AM

I get the "Goggle update listing" about 6-8 times a day with different phone numbers from all over CA, mostly local. I block them all day long. How the hell did they get my cell phone number?

Oh Haha 07-19-2016 10:54 AM

I guess they don't like me as I don't get those calls and I never did join the "no-call" list.

We do get calls from our service providers but that's about it.

berettafan 07-19-2016 11:06 AM

got one where they said 'is this the owner of the ford focus that was inquiring about extended warranty'

I tell them what I really think then hang up.

right up there with the mmikey 'my factory burned' scam bull****.

scottmandue 07-19-2016 11:16 AM

Well it is Google, they know everything!

Why they need me to update my listing when they already know everything I can't even guess.

I actually had a human call and claim they were with the Sheriff's department and they had a warrant for my arrest. He demanded I pay them $600 right away by going to get a gift card and read him the number. I told him (in fewer words) that I was sure his parents were never married and his mom was a $5 whore. I told him to send a big swat team to come get me. They haven't shown up even after several months.
