On further review, I'm going with Motion's theory that it is staged. The whole thing just does not seem right.

I'm kinda leaning in the staged direction too, in part because of how quickly the passenger was able to unbuckle, get that fancy door opened and begin his pursuit - almost as though he was expecting something to happen.

Add to that the previous observation that the guy videoing somehow managed to avoid showing the complete altercation: he was clearly tracking the car, but for some reason failed to pan when the action started.

Wouldn't surprise me to learn that the windshield had a crack and/or rock chip and that this is a case of some sort of insurance fraud.

It's real.

There's not very many orange MP4s in Denver. Maybe only one.

The passenger (and subsequently the driver) caught the kid down the street. Apparently, they were not very kind to him, and now the kid is likely to come out on top. Minus the cost of the windshield, I hope.

1) Why didn't the guy filming pan to the right and capture what really happened?

2) Why did the driver take off without waiting for his passenger?

1) Because even in 2016, the majority of people still haven't figured out to turn the camera sideways for video.

2) Prob went to go look for the pass and the kid, or at least get out of the crosswalk and away from the scene. It would be embarassing to just sit there like an idiot in front of all those spectators.

rusnak 07-21-2016 03:32 PM

I started looking for news from Denver about it. Eyewitnesses say the kid was almost hit, and then walked around the McLaren to smash the passenger side of the windshield. He knew to use the wheels to crack the glass.

Tobra 07-21-2016 04:13 PM

Everybody knows you swing a skateboard and hit with the trucks/wheels.

look 171 07-21-2016 04:24 PM

Maybe kid as his ear phones with music blasting screwing off on the crosswalk. Drivers wakes his up and he did like it and goes and smashes his window. Today's kids have the right to to that you know. Too tired to make the last sentence green.

Jeff Higgins 07-21-2016 04:53 PM

Virtually every insurance company replaces windshield for free, waving the deductible.

So, would the kid have smashed the windshield if it was some old beater Chevy or something?

I'll tell you what, if I were standing in that crowd and saw that kid do that, I would have... stood there and hollered obscenities at him.

I'm too old and fat to chase him.

Not me. I'd have hit the windshield with the flat part of the board, have it vibrate out of my hands and hit me in the face, then try to run away with my shoelaces untied. I'd be the worst rookie scofflaw menace evarrr.

Baz 07-21-2016 05:06 PM

For those who are saying it was staged......why then have the driver run the stop sign, which is against the law, if you want it on video?

I always find it disturbing how quickly people go violent with stuff like this. They got the kid... Let the cops deal with him.

Porsche-O-Phile 07-21-2016 05:17 PM

Bet he doesn't run any stop signs anymore though.

tcar 07-21-2016 05:35 PM

The car is an 'exotic drives' car.
The owner is probably the guy in the passenger seat that chased the boarder.
The guy that 'rented' time in the car ran the sign.

Nah. I emailed the video to my buddy and he telephoned the owner of the car and they apparently chatted about it for a bit.

I think Exotic Drives used to have a McLaren but they don't list one anymore. Maybe it's the one they used to list.

OK... I just saw a local 'news item' that said it was an exotic rentals car.

Gogar 07-21-2016 05:58 PM

Maybe so then! Or maybe this is the one that used to be listed on there.

tcar 07-21-2016 06:03 PM

OK, here's the article I saw here:

Skater Bashes Exotic Car’s Windshield After Collision « CBS Denver

"Mile Hi Drives" here in Denver.

Gogar 07-21-2016 06:07 PM

I guess you're right! Maybe I'm confusing exoticdrivesdenver.com with milehidrives.com.

tcar 07-21-2016 06:15 PM

I shouldn't have used the phrase 'exotic drives'... I meant it generically as one of those companies.

masraum 07-23-2016 02:16 PM

So, the windshield of the McLaren gets dinged. Driver doesn't want to pay for dinged windshield, and fakes this video so his insurance company will pay for the windshield?

Or maybe he'll post here in a day or two with a link to his gofundme site asking for money.
