Selling my M1078

Here is the eBay ad: 1996 Stewart Stevenson M1078 Truck w M1061 Trailer | eBay

I've had the truck for just over a year, and it has been a load of fun... but it's time to sell and find something even more impractical.

It has a lot more power than my Unimog had, but it is so damn big that it won't fit in some places the Mog would go. Gravel roads like this are about the limit of "off-roading" unless you want to beat it up on limbs and stuff.

Also good for a stop at the pub.

There are more photos and a much longer description in the eBay ad, but please feel free to discuss here!

Holy crap. The Mog looks down right tiny next to it.

If the bed of the M1078 were about 2 foot longer, the Mog would fit in the back.
I checked.

You are very correct.... there are two in NC on GovPlanet right now, both with starting bids of $2100. People see that price and don't realize the expense that goes into it after the auction. They don't come with maintenance records and are not usually in "turn key, drive away" condition.

Both of the ones mentioned in NC are missing parts.

There is something similar for sale on ebay right now.... an M977 HEMTT with a Grove materials handling crane mounted at the rear of the chassis

But for manly... I think this is the ticket:

I'm finding that out.
I can cross my fingers and keep trying.

I would hate to lose money on it, but will certainly settle for breaking even.

Military trucks are a little bit of a gamble. I have a Deuce and a half and I have people begging me to sell it. Your truck will sell

Isn't your truck straight air brakes?
That would limit the crowd that can own / operate it which makes it harder to sell.
The deuce is air and Hyd so no CDL is required.

I'll give them a try after the ebay auction runs it's course.
(The Steel Soldiers site has a prohibition of advertising active auctions.)

And yes... straight air.

I'm thinking of buying a back hoe, digging a giant hole and dumping, as in with a dump truck, loads of cash into said hole. Then, by pushing the back hoe also into the hole and burying the whole shebang with a rented bulldozer would be way cheaper in the long run and there's no storage problems afterwards.

Or I might buy a boat with a hole already in it.

Cashflyer, good ad, by the way! I wish more people could write succinctly and upload quality photos so at a buyer has a half a chance to see what's for sale!!
