IOC passes the buck

So the IOC decides to let the individual International Federations of each sport decide on a sport-by-sport basis whether or not to ban athletes and run their own tests despite overwhelming evidence that Russia engaged in state-sponsored doping on a massive, decades-long scale. Oh, and these other Federations have just 12 days to test each athlete. Someone is getting greased by Russia. Talk about the tail wagging the dog. Yulia Stepanova, the whistle-blower who risked her life to expose Russia's machinations? They ban her.

The IOC has lost all credibility. What does a country have to do to get banned?

The Olympics were always such a wonder to me; incredible athletes putting on incredible displays; world records made and broken; stories of overwhelming odds, personal sacrifices. Maybe my cynicism is getting the better of me but, the IOC has become just another corporation that has lost its way.

Eye bleach. Need eye bleach.

I don't even want to know why you have that picture saved on your computer, Glen.

There is no mechanism in the charter to ban countries.

There is also no money in banning large countries. China? Russia? No can do. They need to host eventually. IOC can't afford to rile them up.

Heck the IOC didn't even react or investigate until a newspaper forced their hand...

It's a sham.

Sure, follow the money. Principles and values be damned.

Bribes are rampant. The olympics is bull$#! 7.... 90% of the records were set by doped athletes, or so I read. And the political posturing.... I'll go for a motorcycle ride instead.

I tuned out several years ago when they started letting pro basketball players compete. Haven't watched one minute of them since.
