The Big Short

Good movie, well told though it doesn't include the Fed's role in interest rate manipulation that was a key part of the bubble.

I thought it was decent, wife couldn't have cared less.

They did as good a job explaining the whole thing as they could, it was just too complex to put it into lay terms.

I have a hard time believing all the guys involved in the "short" really felt as bad as they made them out to be in the movie.

My wife and I liked it. I still don't know where all my money went.

Maybe someone can help me with this idea. I am not sure that it is money that went anywhere, it was market value. Clearly money helped define value, but at some point the future that Greenspan said could not happen since everyone on Wall St is ethical, happened. The value of your house, portfolio and other related items were devalued due, in my view, to the greed of the few. By the way, these are the same people contributing heavily to Super PAC's now trying to weaken what little control on the market there is.

This seems obvious evidence for the need for oversight in markets that are less than transparent. In my view, the crisis just redistributed money/value from regular folks in the decline in house values, to those that got bailed out. Seems the hedge funds made out well. as did most of the Wall Streeters.

Wall Street created some X trillion $ of theoretical debt. We the taxpayers paid that debt with real Dollars. Wall Street gave itself bonuses.

I finally saw it the other day. Very good movie that was very well done.

I hadn't read the book, but I have read one of the guys other books, "The Flash Boys". It was very interesting.

Quite a commentary on the state of our political administration at the time.

Good movie. Probably more to the story, but this much was intriguing.

Great movie - my wife loved it more than I did. I think it did as good of a job explaining the whole fiasco in layman's terms as is possible. I like how they framed some of the background as saying "yes, this is boring, but it's important, so listen up". That's a hard line to sell, regardless of how accurate it is, and they did it well.

But I think the highlight for me was Steve Carell's performance. I'm used to him in comedy roles, and he was absolutely stellar in this. Some of the best acting I've ever seen.

Netflixed it recently, still my favorite scene, the entire meltdown explained in 2 minutes.
