CART questions...

What ever happened to CART? Not that one, the open wheel racing organization.

Or...what's a four letter word for slow moving farm vehicle? ( name the driver that said that )

Inquiring minds wanna know.

Tony George single-handedly killed CART and by extension, open wheel racing in America.

CART and IRL were products of the divorce of two camps. There was a power struggle between Tony George and the rest of the open wheel racing world.
George wanted to control everything because he had the Indianapolis Speedway. He wanted a league that was focused on American tracks (mostly speedways).
Other differences were in limitations of the cars.
Ultimately, the two couldn't survive separately. CART went belly up and the teams bought up the assets and became Champ Car. Eventually, everyone came back together as IndyCar.

Yep. A weak shadow of CART's former glory.

All the drivers got sleep apnea from the high speeds and G-forces and had to start driving with CPAPs on. It all went to downhill from there.
