US wins GOLD in shooting this morning. News media probably won't mention it, just because!

FYI, with a VPN to UK, you can stream all Olympic events free from BBC.

Men's Olympic road race (cycling) was good. I'm personally very happy w/ the winner.

Women's tomorrow, starting 5:30 am, entire race broadcast.

We beat France 1-0 in soccer! Very competitive game albeit low scoring.

Swimming tonight!!!

+1
1 day event every 4th year. All in or nothing.

side note: Big fail on Dura Ace for the MANY chain drops. Jezzuz, this is the Olympics after all and modern equipment should be flawless.

Did anyone catch the women's bike wreck yesterday? Leader, full speed downhill, literally 10 minutes left in the multi hour race lost it on a sharp curve and went face first into the curb at 50mph. On camera. It was...queezy...

The other racers (including second place who was chasing her) had to ride by her crumpled body (she was completely unconscious, in a forest region, very little aide).

She's alive, but has a broken back.

Scott Douglas 08-08-2016 09:58 AM

Yeah, I saw that happen. Didn't look good at all. Hope she isn't paralyzed.

Baz 08-08-2016 10:54 AM

That was a Dutch rider and she survived. But when she went down - the Team USA rider behind her was left by herself to finish the race and in doing so was caught by the 3 person chase group which included another Dutch rider - who eventually won the gold.

Hmmm...
