Headphones/radio for rally/road trip
It’s time for the Hill Country Rally again in Texas and last year I said I’d put together a better radio system and I’m looking for ideas. Short trips in the 930 are great fun but long droning highway drives hurt the ears and can’t be healthy for them so I’m looking for something to cut the noise during window down driving while adding radio communication with other ralliers and music when I’m alone.
My ideal system would be noise canceling airplane headsets with CB and FM radio with a CD player. With an unlimited budget this would be easily done but I’m looking for ideas on an affordable approach. Anyone here ever build something like this?

IMO, you really don't really need a "noise-cancelling" feature, just really good isolation. That can be achieved with quality ear-buds (specifically good tips). I have a bunch of IEMs, and short of going full-custom (ear molds, etc.), I've found that Comply (memory foam) tips offer the best isolation, when combined with a good set of earbuds. Then you can just grab a set of walkies/CB/CD player/etc. with a 3.5mm jack and have plug-and-play capability/swap-ability . YMMV...
