South Sacramento, probably not in a good way. Also in Sacto, could go look it over tomorrow maybe if you like, but it would be the first 997 I ever drove. Good Vietnamese place in 95823

Thanks to all who have replied . I do appreciate it .

when in comes to this though it would be advantages to have some one familiar with 2008 and up and 3.8ltr.

I know that could be a tall order but one who is familiar with those cars would know what to look for and look at. I'm not expecting some one to crawl under it (unless you want to) but more some one familiar with all the systems .

I'll get a dealer done PPI later to go over the hard stuff.

2008 3.8 is the last of the breed of M96/97 motors which changed in 2009 to the 9A1 series motor, which is far superior... The 997.1 (up to 2008) and 997.2 (2009 onwards) are pretty similar besides the motor and option of PDK vs Tiptronic.

Jeff,

You work on these things - do you think the M97 car is still worth looking at if cross shopping a 9A1 car? The latter cars are fewer and pricier.

Jeff knows his stuff. Unfortunately he's thousands of miles away so a free lunch isn't going to cut it lol

The longer it takes the longer I have to think and perhaps that's a good thing.

My preference is to push people to the 2009 and later 9A1 motored cars. The M97 cars can be great, we have even owned a few. But our 2 current ones both needed engine builds (997 S and Cayman S). I am not worried about them now that we have done the builds, but if I were shopping for another one I would go 997.2. This isn't to spread fear and hype like some do, and in reality the failure rate is extremely low, but if it were my money again, 9A1 it would be.

Cheers
