Computer recovery issues, need help please.

For various reasons, I had to reload my operating system. Of course when I opened the sealed envelope that came with my machine, the discs were for W8. That would be cool but I have a W7 machine and I bought it that way.

Lenovo/IBM sent me the right discs and I reloaded the OS. The Windows Pro Suite was included and for some reason will not auto run. The right click function does not give that option nor does rebooting with the disc in optical reader.

Despite having a paid for 3 year warranty, ten phone calls and no help, IBM wants to charge me for over the phone tech support. The GF has a licensed Office Home disc and that won't run either. The reader works as I can watch a movie on it. I'm at a loss.

Any suggestions besides tossing it of the Newport Beach Pier?

I think what you are saying is when you insert the system disc and try to boot from it boots from the hard drive instead?

If that's the case reboot the box, go into bios and change the boot device order so the cd/DVD drive is 1st.

If a program will not auto run, boot the PC then open Windows File Explorer and look at the drive for the DVD/DC reader. Look for a program named setup.exe, start, run or any executable program. Double click on it to see if it starts. If not since you loaded Windows 7, the other software might be for version 8 and in that case you're screwed.
