Sore Knee, Doctor, Knee Brace.

So I had a sore knee. I'd been running a bit and all the layers of fat in my torso seemed to have put a little stress on it.

Sore for a month or so. Go see Ms. Gogar's doctor friend upon insistent female-type urging and nagging. you know the drill.

Went and saw the doctor. X-ray, short talk. Nice guy! Receive nice Donjoy knee brace from doctor. In/out, 30 minutes.

$1092.55.

Would have been cheaper to stop running for a while and loose weight! You could also switch to riding a bike, after getting one fit to YOU CORRECTLY as there is way less stress on the joints with a bicycle.

But if the insurance paid for all of it......you really helped the economy!

Had chronic knee pain, and arthroscopic surgery about 10 years ago. About three years ago I started glucosamine and chondroitin, much better now.

Have you considered eating more green beans? They are good for sore joints.

Beans, I like the sound of that, I'll try that.

I have a Voltaren and it greatly reduces the swelling in my knees. I guess makes more room in there for things to fit where they should fit and the pain has goes away for a few more months.

Same deal for me. Basketball. Arthro at 32 but retained beat up ACL. Doc said come back to get fixed.

At 48, Doc said eff off. Come back at 60 for a new knee. I guess I procrastinated.....

Took glu/chon for a long while. Absolutely awesome. Blew it off for a while, irritated it (balloon knee) and went for cortisone shots only two times in early/mid 50's. OMG - sweet.

Now taking Turmeric Curcumin at 60 and all is well but I don't move as much as a younger man.

I feel glu/chon is more robust. I could crouch like baseball catcher. Felt odd but I could do it at 50.

I still have a pain in my right knee but going to wait it out - because it hasn't stopped me from working or doing other stuff - just a bit painful.....but not terrible. Not worth the pain of seeing a doctor anyway...ha ha. No offense to the docs here.

I don't mind getting older, I was just ready for the visit and knee brace to be slightly expensive. Not $1100. I can buy it on Amazon for $140. I was expecting to pay $200 or $300 or maybe even $500 for the visit. etc. etc. I just don't go to the doc much, and I forgot about the America effect.

If it wasn't for excellent Medical Ins in retirement, I'd have to give up many of my current activities. My dirt bike crash last year would have cost me at least $100,000......In the end, it was ZERO to me..........Very thankful.

I'm on the Cab/Merlot/fancy girlfriend diet at the moment. I think it's gonna power me through the last month of recovery.

Couple of things...

1. Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey for your joints (and a lot of other things too!)

2. Running is great, but you can't outrun a bad diet. If you really wanna drop the pounds, start with the diet first. Then, add the physical exercise. Your body, especially your joints, will appreciate it!
