Real hero

The media uses the word hero all the time on very ordinary acts. When a 8 year old calls 911 because a parent is sick is not heroic, it is just expected. A parent jumping into a pool to save their own kid is not heroic, it is doing you job as a parent.

For a ordinary citizen to risk his life to save a stranger, that is heroic.

This my friends is a hero. He risked his live to rescue a lady that was going to drown. Double bonus, he saved the dog as well.

"get my god**** dog!" priorities.

I guess people are not kidding when they say Miatas are death traps.

May have considered trying to drag the car with the boat to shallow water before popping the cabin bubble...they're all lucky to be alive.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

Great stuff... That kid deserves a medal from the President.

Gogar 08-17-2016 08:23 PM

Good for him!

You can't "what if" stuff like that.

I am surprised how few people understand how to get out of a car that's going under water.

That said, she probably drove right into it to begin with.

I **** you not... This is my high school buddy David. Was always a quiet guy. Was completely unsurprised when he jumped into that water. That's just the way it goes when you are from around that part of the states.

Mythbusters did a story about getting out of a car that's sinking in water.
The conclusion was to wait until the car fills up with water then calmly open the door.

Sounds easy but in the heat of the moment people do stupid things.

Way to go David. I really hope he gets recognized for his actions.

We even got that on our news out here in the colonies.

And yes, we all think he's a real hero.

When you next communicate with him tell him a grumpy old white man in Oklahoma "get off my lawn" thinks he is a hero. Job well done. Buy him a beer for all of us next time you get a chance.

Yep he did good!

Another chance for a person trapped in a sinking car that I read about, is to pull out the headrest and use the metal bracket to break a window out.

Don't know how well this would work, but nice to have something to try.

Cheers Richard
