Sorry for your loss JJ and Paul.
One of our kitties died at 3yr from a supposed ureter blockage/kidney failure from being snipped too early in age.
He's in the back yard as well.

So I work n the periphery of NYC, on bridges... we usually have office trailers in places no one would voluntarily go..

I'm in Harlem now 125 St and 1 St Ave..First day up up there I noticed a little commotion...

Some little kittens being kittens

Cute little buggers

They're living in Harlem, and probably wont have a long life expectancy, so I try and help out

I set out food and water 2x every day..

And they are an incredibly friendly cat clan... Momma come trotting out when I put food in the bowls... Not sure if there is an OK signal.. but a little while later the kittens come out to eat and drink and play..

I work in some seriously ****ty areas.. and finding, and taking care of some cats makes it bearable..

P.S.

Does anyone know of OTC flea or worm treatment I can get for them? Oral... i.e. just mix with the food

I watch this little family and haven't observed any excessive scratching

Can you gather up mom and her babies and take them to a shelter? To find them a good home someplace away from the bridge?

I've thought about it... however if I get to close, they just vanish..

Not sure if you know what the pics shows, but they are living in a nest of old guard rail... piled up.... bunches of hidey holes..get to close and they vanish in different directions

yeah, I see the old guard rails. To catch them you will need a couple traps as they are wild. Mama may be a little easier 'cause of the picture of her with the tail up. Just that they need homes and not live in the wild and get run over by a car on the bridge.

I get that, momma is super friendly... until you get near the little ones.. I'd love to get them all nice cushy homes..And I'll keep trying.. I am a realist though

Best solution would be to trap them and have them,TNR ,by a sanctuary org.

These two were rescued at less than one day old from the desert here in Scottsdale. Do all you can to save the kittens. These two have proved a joy

My two cats are rescues. The younger one is very protective of his older disabled "brother". Yesterday GF heard the disabled guy getting a bit of grief from some other cat on his turf. The younger, urban commando sorta guy, was out of his day bed in .5 of a second, out the cat door and over the fence. I suspect some neighbor is up for some serious vet bills with their cat LOL

The sooner you get to them the better.

Once they go full Feral it's not easy to rehab them, not impossible but takes a lot of time and patience.

I know that's right. It took weeks of feeding a neighborhood stray just to let me touch her. I ended up with lots of scratches. Slow going, but not anymore, 2nd litter in 9 months. The cat is docile now. My woman calls the cat Kiki, I call her Quickie.

After Socks passing, the misses said that she would never get another one because it was too hard to see them go to better pasture.

After a lot of crying session she came to the conclusion that she was wrong.

Meet Tiger, 3 months old rescue female...
