Advice plz, Oakdale, CA to Resort at Squaw Creek near Lake Tahoe, CA
I'm currently at Lake Tulloch, just east of Oakdale, CA for the next two weeks when I will then depart for the Resort at Squaw Creek for the PCA Treffen, Sep 6 - 10. Looking at Google maps, they want me to go back west and take Rt 99 north, then catch I-80 east to Rt 89 and south to the Resort. But there are some other "interesting" looking roads that one might take from here including Rt 108 east to 395 and then north to Lake Tahoe or Rts 4, 88 or 50 all going east across the Sierra Nevadas north of here.
Anyone familiar with these routes and might suggest a nice road for us to take in the 997 Turbo S? TIA

I just did 395 from Reno to Lee Vining. Beautiful drive into Yosemite. Far more scenic than 99 or 5.

Over the years, I've crossed the Sierras on all the paved routes. You need to do them all but 80 and 50. I suggest you go one direction on 108 and the other on Hwy 4.....

I suggest taking the 120 and go over Tioga Pass. This was you will get to see Yosemite if you decide to take a little detour. Go north on 395 (my favorite Hwy in the west) and come back west on the 89 through Markeeville. Stay on the 89 ans it will take you around the lake into Village. Tell you the truth,, they are all really pretty drives. I have done most of them throughout the area. Some of them you can open up a little and exercise that turbo, some not so much. Be careful of the motor homes and the tourist. There are lots of them in the hills, cops too. Do not speed in the park.

^this^ suggestion is not bad. Get out and look around at Emerald Bay. There is a little trail that goes up the hill from there that is not bad.
Have you ever seen Lake Tahoe? You could take 395 up to 207(Kingsbury Grade) and drive around the North end of the lake. How much time do you want to take driving? Don't take 99, unless you like looking at trucks.

My parents and Grandparents lived in that area for a long time and I have done most of those roads. As mentioned they are all pretty great driving. I personally would take several day trips into Yosemite and see lots of the sights while staying in Tullock. I would prefer this to traveling through with the parade of tourists. When heading to Tahoe I would head north along 49 through historic gold country and take scenic 88 over Carson pass. It is a road less travelled with breathtaking views along the way.
If catching a piece of 395 is on your want list, take 108 thru the Sierras to 395 N to Tahoe. Have a great trip!

You can't go wrong if you just take any of those roads that lead you into the mountains. They are all very pretty drives, but if you want to open up then sections of the 49 is a blast because you can actually go pretty fast. Just don't get caught. You mention the Turbo so I assume you're after curvy roads so you can actually open up.
