2002 Accord 2.3 Vtec do or do nots

Dear Abby, Dear Abby
(Truly i mean a REAL Honda tech with real honda advice )
Confused- i bought a low mile engine to replace this one asap.
Now i discover vtec was a option not a standard engine .
Will this non Vtec work where the Vtec was ??
thanx

I think you can go VTEC to normal, but not the other way around, or it is easier anyway. I know that is how it is for swapping into a civic. Really, anything can be done, just a question of how much trouble.

Easiest thing might be to sell that motor and get one that's the same as what it had. I just see problems w the car's ECU looking for the VTEC and it not being there, throwing codes, etc.

Yea it is the ECM , engine on light issues i am concerned with.
This is one of those JDM engines from EBAY and i am trying first not to be a biotch...
In the pic, it was a honda VTEC that I bought, It said so on the valve cover.Quite clearly .
The one i rcvd does not ay such a thing.
After further research (20 20 hindsight ) there are several engines that came in this model .
Everyone makes mistakes . A business shines when they own them. I will see what kind if friction they will give when I say take it back .
