This is almost my exact story too. We not only did our 90' driveway, but did all the walkways too. If I remember right it was 22 pallets of pave stones! It has held up pretty good over the last 25 years.
Would I do it again myself??? NO! I'd hire someone.

Living in the snow belt...I like my asphalt drive because with any sunshine in the winter..it melts the ice and snow...won't happen with concrete or pavers. Any part that is shaded stays frozen. My only complaint during the warmer times are the ants that are nearly impossible to keep out. They pull the sand base thru the small cracks and leave a round circle of sand on the surface. Ant sprays on the edges help, but they keep coming back.
Also, snow removal is easy on asphalt...set the scraper to the surface and everything comes off with the blower.
