Actually, Hamilton could change his engine again, have three for the rest of the season, and be penalized no worse (but he would have to start from the pit lane) as a 45 grid spot penalty has the same effect as a 30 grid spot penalty. Given that he will probably have to do this once move before the season is over, it makes sense to load up on penalties now.

Not sure that I understand the rules regarding engine numbers for the season, guess Hamilton has used too many?
Speaking of Hamilton, quite the drive thru the field. WOW, no doubt why the Eau rouge section of spa is so legendary. The helicopter shot looking down the hill from above is amazing. As well as the incar perspective, mind blowing ride. Cheers Richard Ah just heard more about the engine situation, still confused Last edited by tevake; 08-28-2016 at 06:37 AM.. |

***SPOILERS***
Hamilton has used up his entire allotment of engines for the season. I believe at least two were damaged when someone else hit him. He had some other random failures at the beginning of the season that weren't really his fault. This is a bit of an oversimplification, but he will get a 15 grid-spot penalty for each new engine. He used one new engine for practice, one for qualifying, and one for the race, giving him 45 spots in penalties. By finishing third, he really limited the damage but picked up more engines to use at future races, penalty-free. If the original allocation was six engines for the season, he now has three engines for the second half of the season. In theory, he should be good to go. The race coverage was interesting. Rosberg got no airtime. All cameras were on Hamilton. Even though Rosberg won, it was basically a victory for Hamilton, given the circumstances. After the race, Rosberg both seemed happy with the win, but disappointed that it didn't bring him back into the lead of the Driver's championship.
