You "win" an argument on PPOT when you learn something and admit it.

When the other guy subtly changes the subject you know you've won. That's one of Fint's favorites. You can tell he's getting his azz handed to him when he morphs the subject.

When a person who had never made a reasonable argument in their life constantly posts about you instead of the topic...especially if they say silly crap regarding having your "azz handed" to you. That is the sign that not only have they never handed anyone their "azz," but that their own "azz" was likely an oft used receptacle...and they are compensating.

If they were not so painfully petty and obnoxious, you would feel sorry for them as they seem drawn to the discussion like moths to a flame...hoping to redeem themselves with some new personal attack against the perceived source of their self-loathing, only to make a fool out of themselves once again.

This is all there ever is for on-line arguments. Especially in PARF. The same few will argue the same points in multiple threads for hundreds of posts over and over.

Very little if any real pertinent information is ever presented, just a link to some wacko web site with the same agenda.

What is the most stunning to me is any subject can be argued. No doubt that Mom, Apple Pie and the American flag have many that would argue they are bad evil things. I doubt there is one subject ever brought up that does not have polar opposite opinions and nothing will change the mind of the other.

Like settling a lawsuit. Both sides frustrate and give up.

Or when the ballots are counted.

Part of the problem is that many will enter a contentious thread with many posts and only read the last one and make the same argument made 20 posts earlier...or toss a bomb and leave.
