still no power
Still no power. Saved everything in fridge, freezer maybe not - was still frozen yesterday at 4pm, and no one has been opening it, but no ice or dry ice available. Camped out at a friends house with lights and AC but no data, so am pairing phone and laptop to get work done. Spending 2-3 hours at local library as well, since they have data available.
Still better than dealing with snow every year... Of course, in my 45 years, we've had 4 hurricanes pass over directly.... and we've had snow 4 times as well. Map of us folks w/ no power on my electric utility, not sure about other providers. I'm between High Springs and Alachua near intersection of 441 and I75 Clay Electric |
Do you have any idea when the power will be restored?

Should be sometime today....

No power gets old very quickly. We were cold and dark for 15 days after Sandy. We are waaay too dependent on those electrons.

Tip if you live in an area with frequent power outages. Fill blank spaces in your freezer with milk cartons full of water. Keeps the freezer cold longer. When the power goes out, leave the freezer door closed.
Added bonus is no need to buy ice during normal times...whack the frozen cartons with a hammer, use in your cooler chest. |

Seems ridiculous for it to be off for so long. |
And came back on about an hour ago.
With spotty issues my provider is really quick about fixing. With a low end hurricane or other massive outage they fix what gets the most connected first. Simple triage/prioritization. Freezer stayed almost completely frozen, lost some popsicles and some beef mostly thawed so meatloaf for dinner tomorrow. Biggest lesson is better testing/maintenance on my wimpy little generator.... If I had that I could've bugged in no issue and sernt wife/kids to friends. |
