Are You One to Beleive the Stats?

92.6% of LinkedIn Users Believe Made Up Statistics – NSEA

So do you believe that stat?

Some stats have their place while others are the product of creative non-fiction.

This could get PARFy quick so lets try not to...

What percentage of published authors don't know the rules of "i" before "e"?

No. Each June I welcome our interns. I addition to several bits of advice (they all believe they should have my job in a few years), I remind them to not believe half of what they read on LinkedIn and validate the other half. Lots of want to be "experts" looking for their ticket to gurudom on LinkedIn these days. However, it is still one of my most successful recruiting tools.

62% of all statistics are made up. 38% are made up on the spot.

Statistically yes, actually no.

I don't trust any of the "polls" that supposedly were given to the general public in a non-methodical manner. Generally, if you answer the phone, and answer questions,, or answer questions on Linkedin, you are a much more tolerant liberal than I am, so the results are skewed in a different way. I don't give pollsters, or online requsets the time of day, so there is a whole contingent of people who don't answer, rather than answering the way the poll wants.

When it comes to political polls, I always lie...

The black arts prevent me from believing ANY statistics, except the ones I produce!

80% of the time the easiest way to lie is using statistics.

(The other 20% is to give your opinion with absolutely no documentation to back it up and then scoff at anyone who questions the opinion by claiming you're an expert.)

"believe" it or not
