tony stuart should be banned from racing

I watched the Richmond race the other night.

after, tony ADMITTS to causing the wreck that took out 5-6 people, which also caused a fire. said he usually only allows someone to bump him once but he gave newman 3 shots before wrecking him.
he also did the same thing at darlington last weekend

I cant believe someone like that is allowed on a race track.
I know that would not be tolerated in F1.

Just resently I come to appreciate the level of driving and racing skill, as well as the capability of the cup type of cars.

But that aspect of NASCAR, THE CHROME HORN. Still puts me off of their racing.
I do think a bit of rubbing is a part of stock car racing. But the intentional wrecking of others is a hold over from the bad old days of american stock car racing. An the blatant bad sportsmanship really puts me off.
Also the fabricated cautions in the last 10 laps, to bunch them up and have a sprint finish is a tired practice that happens far too often.

I much prefer the Austrailinn V8 supper car series for watching stock car racing.
But then they do race on the sorts of tracks that I find interesting.

Some of the road course racing that NASCAR is doing lately is dang good.

Cheers Richard

Is that a bunch of Dominos delivery drivers? ;)

:D

You can only imagine how hard it is to keep their little signs on the roof while racing like that.

T77911S 09-12-2016 06:40 AM

yea, I like the road courses too. love to see those big heavy cars sliding around the turns.....the true definition of drifting.

the nascar rule is if you cant pass em, just bump em in the corner to get them out of your way.

around here the saying is watch the fights on the track then turn around and watch the fights in the pits. (a lot of the pits are behind some of the stands.

Rubbing is RACING!! It's the NASCAR way!. Been to many tracks from Daytona to Martinsville and these boys are fun to see live. TV does it NO Justice! YAK YAK YAK!! It's a 3500LB car and they are driving on the very edge!! Fat Tony's gone after this year, but could this be a Payton Manning farewell?

GH85Carrera 09-12-2016 07:56 AM

Most of the fans come to watch wanting to see some wrecks. The crashes fill the seats.

I quit watching one of the raod racing series because of so much of the "rubbing is racing" mentality. I just hate it.

Having driven on a couple of the super-speedway tracks in my old street car I can really appreciate the skill the pros have to run three abreast at 200 MPH. I can testify at 120 MPH in my street car that track look like it is just a few feet wide.

When they get rid of the deliberate crashes, I will start watching. That will happen right after they stop the fights in hockey and the NFL. It could be stopped real simple. 6 game suspension for throwing a punch, second offense, you are done for a full season of games, even if that is part of next season. It will happen right after congress passes a balanced budget.

I gave up watching all pro racing. IMHO Formula is boring, Nascar is silly. I've been to Pocono & Watkins a week after a Nascar race, they are typically still hauling dumpsters of trash.

I enjoy vintage or scca, especially at a track I've driven, like Mid-Ohio or Watkins.

flipper35 09-12-2016 08:34 AM

Road America has some great vintage stuff as well as the runoffs.

Tobra 09-12-2016 09:00 AM

Any other driver in any other racing venue would be done, like done forever, if they behaved like that guy does.

pwd72s 09-12-2016 09:23 AM

Solution...if you don't like something on TV? Don't watch.

BE911SC 09-12-2016 09:35 AM

He's a money-maker. When he can no longer make money for all involved he'll be banned or simply retire.

flipper35 09-12-2016 10:14 AM

I would like to add, if they were banned for stuff like that, most would be banned in NASCAR.

Exactly. It's not like he was turning right or something.

T77911S 09-12-2016 11:55 AM

rubbing is the "rule" but ironically that is why he caused the wreck which is totally different than rubbing. If you look at what started it tony dropped down on newman in that turn. looked like tony was trying to block/bully him and it did not work.

I don't mind some of the short track races. went to darlington last week and planning a Bristol race next year. just some that we have always said would be fun to see.

I don't watch or attend anymore, but I did for years....usually I agree with you, but not on this.
Couldn't be further from the truth for most, and in fact, I've never encountered a single individual like that...not one :(

Don't know if factual but rumor is attendance numbers are way down. I've never liked it but know of many who formerly followed it religiously. Maybe Tony Steamhead will end up like D.E. Sr., the 'Intimidator'.

edit:
Ryan Newman says Tony Stewart is 'bipolar,' has anger management issues

Not necessarily wrecks, but the drama.
The same scripted drama that draws the masses to watch the Real Housewives and WWE.
Root for your favorite character.
Denounce the villain.

strupgolf 09-12-2016 02:51 PM

Oh come on there guys. Tony is no more a crasher than a racer. He might have caused a few over the years, but who didn't. It's NASCAR. Bump and grind. Every driver has done the same thing since 1957. If you're in the way, look out because somebody wants your spot. I love the Xfinity race at RA because it is such a sight to see with those cars banging around every turn.

Nascrap, the WWF of motorsports and just as real.
