Fish tank photos.

How about posting pic's of your home aquarium?

I've had pond fish for about ten years and for the first time there are baby gold fish swimming around too. They are pretty smart and are staying out of the way of the big guys. I was going to get another pond for them but ended up getting a fish tank for inside the house so I can admire these gorgeous little fishies growing up.

Are you feeding them fry food? It is interesting to watch them grow, but you should also cull the not so good ones. I had a hard time doing that with my koi.

They are still in the pond with the big fellas. They have their own spot in the shallows that they feel safe in. I've just been feeding them dry flake fish food which as the ingredients: fish meal, shrimp meal, wheat germ, yeast, vitamins, organic minerals - sounds quite good! When I get the tank sorted I'll move one or two in to see if they survive, then I'll move the rest. They seem very healthy and there are only about ten of them. I got a tank that is about a meter x 400mm x 300mm, about 240 liters. So lots of room for them.

You should take them out ASAP. Use that same pond water in your aquarium as the fish are acclimated to it. If it is a new tank, you also need to clean and age it before putting the fish in there. If you ave a pond, you probably have guppies. Use them to test the new tank. I found an undergravel filter works best with babies.

Liquifry is what I fed my baby koi. They seemed to thrive on it.

They are now about 20mm long from nose to the end of their tails, so they have been there for a month or two. The pond is tap water but has bad algae so I didn't want to migrate any of this to the fish tank. I was going to get new water weed, maybe even plastic stuff? Then I will leave the pump and filer running for a few days to age it.

Do you have plecos? They are great for eating the algae in the pond.

No. But the algae is not really a problem in the pond. The fish seem very happy. I just wanted the aquarium to be crystal clear and a different sort of setup to the pond. I thought I'd research it a little and do something a bit arty

Could you please post a pic of your Koi pond? I want to build one in my yard, but have not started yet. I have plenty of experience keeping salt water aquariums, so I think that might help. I have a perfect spot that Needs a koi pond,

I built my pond to set on my deck for easier viewing and maintenance.
Currently have 4 Koi and 5 turtles. The turtles are very fun to watch..the fish not so much!

Very nice! I used to feed my guys tender vittles cat food (packet) once in a while to mix their diet up. They loved it. Just a little bit so they ate it before it would sink.

Looking good. there is a turtle at the local SPCA looking for a home but the dogs and cats would give him a bit too much of a hard time. My pond with the larger goldfish would be nice for turtles though... umm.

they're very easy to care for...just need to keep the water somewhat fresh and throw some food pellets in once in a while. They really like freeze dried shrimp. I've had the larger one for at least 6 years now.

The trouble is everyone has a cat around here I've got two, so it would be cruel.

I've had the same worries because of numerous cats around here. They have never caught any of the fish..even though I see their tracks on the ledge by the water..and raccoon tracks. The bigger threat are birds that spot them from the air. The turtles are safe against either.

I have steel mesh over the pond to protect the fish. Two of them have bad scarring from cats getting a claw through the mesh still. GF made the comment the the seagulls would get the turtle. I live across the road from a beach so there are plenty of birds flying over always.

I built a relatively large pond three years ago. 9x3 meter and 2,5 meter deep. 17 koi. Lots of pics of the pond but having trouble transfer from mobile to computer.

my 37'x17' x 9' deep pool has been turned in to a koi pond

as we have good ground water here
I do not filter the water
just dump and refill every week or less

started with 10 goldfish then added 10 koi
now 4 years later have about 25 big koi
and way too many goldfish
and a few 1/2 GF/koi crosses
