Ed Pink engines

It seems that Ed Pink builds the motors for the "reimaged" singers. Has anyone bought a motor from them? Curious as to how much they get for them, specifically the 390hp 4.0.

Hey, I can dream....

Interesting. While I didn't know Pink still had anything to do with 911 based engines, I know he built engines for Jim Busby's 962 team back in the 80's. As I recall Busby felt he wouldn't get the same Andial engines as Holbert's factory team, so he had Ed Pink build his motors to try and draw even.

^^^^ That is engine porn for sure.

I wonder just how many mega thousands that engine cost?

You could always ask...

Ed Pink Racing - Welcome Home

Also, seems like they're looking for an experienced Porsche engine guy.

Inside source (unofficial) says $35,900.

Joe Bob 09-16-2016 08:55 AM

Ouch, prolly worth it though......

You provide a Core, or no?

I don't know. It wasn't discussed.

Well, that's fairly reasonable for what it is. Especially when you consider that the Singer Porsche 911 wrapped around it can cost the owner an eye-watering $500K, or more...plus a donor car

Joe Bob 09-16-2016 03:55 PM

The entry level Singers are "only" $395K USD and a 12-14 month wait......a bargain. The shop is a real boutique in size.

Anyone else wonder if Singers' star is beginning to fade a bit? Perhaps familiarity has begun to do its thing on beauty...

Oh, I think they'll be around for while yet ;)

Yes, worth it IMO because you'd have a bullet proof "new" air cooled motor.

How much does the average amateur spend rebuilding their own?

surflvr911sc 09-16-2016 06:19 PM

You can easily spend $20k on a "stock" <= 3.6 race prepped motor, with core!

They are doing quite well, last I checked. They have a lot of orders and are searching for more donor cars. I sold them my 964 last year, which was supposed to be turned into their first demo. I should be able to go back and drive it as a Singer, soon.

That's my shift knob! Singer ordered 10 more knobs from me with more to follow.

Couldn't disagree more, I'm looking forward to see what they do next!
