Hows that 'shyte' smelling American diesel truck working for you?

Can't remember ever being behind an modern diesel Audi or VW and smelling anything(even though they are on the wrong side of the law with the diesel issue).

BUT...every time I am behind a smog-belching Ford or Chrysler diesel truck spewing out more carcinogenic toxic than a small power plant, just like those cowards who murder innocent lives(who got their guns legally), I say "Thank God it's legal", and proudly wave my American Flag that I got "rights".

Pretty big difference between a 2.0 litre diesel designed to get 40 mpg and a 6.6 litre motor made to pull 15k lb trailers .
Diesel hater .....

There are definitely some really bad actors out there w modded, POS diesel PU trucks but mine is stock w a catalytic converter and it runs pretty clean. A little diesel smell if near the pipe while idling but no visible smoke, including on acceleration. Not bad for its age.

That refers to the extreme idiots who put a programmer on their truck to over fuel it on one setting and belch black smoke like a 19th century locomotive. That's what passes for irony in some of the dumber parts of the country, they are really showing the EPA, etc...

Mine is an 04, it was the last of the last to not come with a cat. I have a 4" turbo back exhaust, and I run a mild tune, mostly to capitalize on fuel mileage . The only time I see smoke is on a long grade with a really heavy load, and the smoke is minimal. At idle, and low load, it runs pretty clean, and just a hint of diesel smell if you are standing near the tail pipe. I live in a somewhat rural/farming community and I Probably know 30 guys with diesel trucks, and I am betting that not one of them has ever rolled coal , or even knows how to .
Dude with a grey market 930 crying the blues about a little diesel smell . cmon

A couple of potatoes down the stacks seems to help in these coal roller cases.

I just used my (OMG) 7.3 liter diesel all day today ripping apart an old foundation, and hauling away the concrete debris. 9 loads of a 14,000 lb dump trailer......try that with your stupid boring commuter appliance car ! diesel hater indeed.

Lot of folks drive them to work...in an office in a suit...or just as daily transportation. Might even be worse than the spandex outfitted crowd insisting on blocking traffic pedaling on a busy 55mph road at 5 mpg...just 10 feet from the huge cycle path that follows the road.

I guess your driving prowess far exceeds mine. I cannot imagine driving someting that big and fitting it into a parking space at a restaurant. Just driving the standard F150 I used to have reminded me of the nightmare of driving a massive Uhaul truck through the city and trying not to destroy something.

There are lots of oversized trucks in the commuter parking lot where I park some days. They quite manage to damage the car next to them when they pull out of the small space...and apparently never notice because they keep right on going. I parked three different cars there over the period 2 weeks and all three were damaged.

Had to stop doing that, since the gopro cameras became popular.

Plus, when the commuters couldn't buy gas after hurricane Sandy, diesel was no problem.

I drove my trusty old Dodge to visit my dad today. It was nice since I have not driven it in a couple of weeks. No smoke, and all by myself, and I do not live in the rural area.
