G19 is not pocketable, kind of a largish gun by the standards of today's CCW pistols. I am thinking of getting a G26 myself.
Just got my WA CCW! So now I am legal on both sides of the Columbia. My WA CCW is recognized in ID too. |

It appears the microstamping law is already in effect. The technique of etching the microstamp softens the firing pin, so it will be more prone to failure. How difficult is it to replace a firing pin, and is this something that would require the services of a gun smith? |
Glock firing pin is an easy DIY job. Parts are cheap.

It is looking more and more like the 26 is the one. I like the CZ too, but it is a bit on the bulky side. The G 43 is almost certainly a better choice, but the people's republic of kalifornia has decreed that mere mortals are not worthy to have one of them, along with numerous other items I covet. Actually, the top 3-4 picks for CCW are not "on the list." Freakin' California.
WRT the creations of the estimable Mr Browning: The Man, no doubt, in designing armaments, like Tesla, the guy was touched by God, if you will forgive the hyperbolic lingo. I read that a 90 year old Ma Deuce was recently retired, NINETY. That is just astounding. His designs for shotguns, Auto 5 and the pump are, as the kids are wont to say, the shiznit. I have always been a fan of the Hi Power and the BAR is to me the armament version of an original 550 spyder, top of the list for cost is no object get me one of those babies. I seriously considered a 1911 style .380, gun and cartridge both courtesy of JMB, but due to concerns about ammo availability and size of it, decided to go another direction. 9 mm was the way I wanted to go, because the ammo is going to be available. Cops and military use it, will be there. I will have a 1911 .45 one day, but this purchase is with an eye to carrying it, and I am not a big enough guy to pull off concealing a 1911, that is a lot of steel to be toting every day. |
I'm back to CCW'ing a SIG P220 full size these days. The new E2 grips make it so slim and the longer barrel actually makes it more stable when carrying IWB at the small of my back. I was really surprised by how nicely it fit, even better so than my P239, but now I have some more stopping power.

Inch and a half thick? And they say a Glock is thick as a brick.
Sweet looking piece though, and it does have his name on it. |
Glocks are pretty thin. They fit my hand well. Sigs feel too thick to me.

For anyone wanting a deal, I got some spam today from CDNN advertising a day or two long sale on police trade in SIG 226s in .40 ... $400. Figure in your hands for under $450 if you have a good local FFL to transfer for $25...

Here I am all decided on a G 26, and I had to see this. Has got to be illegal in California though, right?

G19 bs g26
The OP asked about the g19 vs the G26. I have both, plus the 43, 17, 20.
The g19 is much more shootable, carries just as well AIWB, holds more ammo. The g26 is redundant when I have the 43. I carry the g26 in my Hill People's Gear Runner's Bag for my early morning runs. That's the roll it serves now. For CC, g19 is much preferred. I use the JM Custom Kydex George with the SF XC 1 and Trijicon RM06 installed. Disappears on me. My $0.02 Troy |
I have this one. Must be illegal in CA, but perfectly ok in AZ. So much fun.

Troy, is it the short grip or the short slide or a combination of both on the 26 that makes you say the 19 is more shootable?
43 is of course, illegal here. |
It's mainly the short grip. But you can add extensions.
For me and many others, the 19 is the right combination of size and conceal ability. Carrying AIWB has been a game changer for me in terms of concealment and comfort. Troy |
The guy at the shop on Wednesday was pretty small, appendix carrying and really was not printing with the untucked button down shirt. My buddy has a G30 which is similar size to the 26 in a .45, and it shoots pretty sweet.
The higher capacity of the 19 is a moot point in California, 10 is all I get per magazine. I would get magazines pinned to carry 10 anyway with the 19. |
Well then, get a 26 with a Pierce extension on the mags and shoot the crap out of it!
Think about steel sights and the smooth trigger from a 17. Good luck Troy |
Pics of new addition to family will be appreciated . . .
|
That is pretty much what I am thinking Troy. If a high cap mag fell into my lap somehow, the ones from the 17 or 19 will run fine in the 26. My buddy is LEO, and can get the 43. We are going to have his wife try my 26 and my Airweight S&W so she can get a feel for tiny frame books. His G30 was a bit much for her, but I liked it. It ain't no 1911, but it handles fine in my hands. Similar in size to a 26
It will be a few weeks until I have it home. |
