I can't fathom...
what I would do if this happened to my little man. Utterly heartbreaking.
Special-needs boy set on fire by bullies he thought were friends | New York Post |
Wow, how horrible.
I can't imagine that happening to anyone. I do know what I think the punishment should be. |
Police: Kerrville boy's horrific burns caused by accidental gasoline splash, 1 juvenile arrested - Houston Chronicle
"Authorities investigating a weekend fire that severely burned a local boy said Thursday they believe he was accidentally splashed with gasoline as he and three friends gathered around a fire they'd started in a dilapidated neighborhood shed." |
if on purpose..
as a former long time burn pt.. I simply say.. those kids should be dead already... and had it been mine.. I'd probably take out the whole clan.. Rika |
The boys that did it should die of old age in prison. They are not fit to be around people
Alternatively, plenty of places where there are alligators in that part of the country |
Wow, I just don't know how to process something like that. Another whole level.

Syrian family describes amputation of young boy's arm by ISIS
Published October 06, 2016 A Syrian family who escaped ISIS' de facto capital of Raqqa has described seeing an 11-year-old boy's arm chopped off as punishment by the terror group's religious police. The family, who chose to remain anonymous for fear of retribution against them or their family members, told Sky News the boy was a orphaned neighbor who attempted to exchange a stolen car battery for food. The man he tried to bargain with informed the ISIS authorities. ''They used a sword … they put a block of wood underneath his hand, put his hand on it and said this stole a car battery … they didn't say he was an orphan," the family's mother said. "They said this hand has stolen and he had to be punished and they cut his hand off." Another mother spoke of her anguish at being pressured into "selling" her 14-year-old daughter in marriage to an Egyptian ISIS fighter who was 29. The woman was trying to bring up her four sons and daughter alone after her husband was killed in an airstrike. She said the ISIS fighter offered her $500 worth of gold in return for her daughter. |
My son is special needs. I honestly don't know what I would do in a situation like this.
I'd like to think I would keep a clear head and let due process work. but then again, there's that Fatherly rage that might rear it's ugliness. |
There are a lot of really, really screwed up people in this world and more ugliness than we care to acknowledge. Picking out one and ignoring the rest is .... .well I suppose it's easier. But to suggest this is as bad as it gets is not accurate.
Do kids know what's right and wrong? Probably. Was it an accident or on purpose? Not enough info but it looks intentional. Do grown adults who victimize helpless babies for their own satisfaction know it's wrong? There is no doubt. Sorry in advance for this: Quote:
Ever seen those plastic vegetable slicers they sell on TV? Kinda like this one? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1475799293.jpg That would be useful against that guy. Maybe take just a slice or two off the tip every day for a year til there's nothing left, and then start slicing on something else. |

Oh man. I am speechless and don't know what to think of all this? I bet the parents are well, not so good parents? They failed to shape their kid at a young age or did schools allow this to happen? From what I understand, kids have no consequences for screwing up/around in school because we are too worry about hurting their feelings. They can run wild and cause all types of BS and get away with it.
I almost want to say their family should burn one of their kids. Parents should be responsible for this. "I can't control my kids" is not acceptable. Smacking your kid upside the head for screwing up is not child abuse. That's where it starts. Damn, I feel a little better. |

We've lost our way - our moral compass.
|
You guys are talking about the fact that the family seems to be railroading some neighborhood kids, right? Since you all read the LOCAL STORY that I linked, instead of the New York Post sensationalism crap? The LOCAL NEWS that said it seems to be unintentional, and caused by kids screwing around with gas and lighters? The only people claiming that it was intentional are the kids parents, who seem convinced that their kid is was only there to be beat up and made fun of, instead of actually maybe being buddies with these other kids?
If it turns out that the kids did burn him, then yes, I agree with you, but when the investigation is pointing otherwise, maybe we should not be discussing "moral compasses"... |

Occams Razor. We can all imagine a time when we stood around with our friends at age 12 screwing around with fire and risking getting really burnt (hell, many of us DID get really burnt!). None of us can visualize standing around, pouring gas on someone and burning them on purpose. Of the two scenarios, which plays out daily somewhere in the country, and which plays out once in 10 years? |
