New project for the garage thinking of installing racedeck flooring.

Anyone have it installed how do you like it ?
How is it holding up long term ?

will be a working garage on occasion not a real man cave or showcase

I thought about tile, but would be a lot of labor on my part (650 sf) and concerned about
chipping tiles when dropping tools

It is a great way to clean up a space ! It is ridiculously easy to do, it's not much work at all... I'd recommend some sort of underlayment for the areas where you will walk. For instance the cloth used to prevent weeds from coming through your mulch... Anything like that will soften the clickety-clack from walking on it...

Long term it holds up well to liquids and tools, it's removable, replaceable... if you drop a heavy sharp tool you will ding it, if you weld the slag will melt it a bit, but you likely have spare tiles to replace it... You cannot jack directly on it obviously....

I have it, love it and wife loves it. Looks great and completely transforms the garage. It cleans up easily, simple green, but I roll out a mat under the car when it's up on the MaxJax.

Damn Deschodt, my garage looks like your "before" picture. I might have to look into the flooring. Nice work!

Amazing how much it transforms your garage. Really looks nice and mine is holding up well. It scratches easily though.

I completely filled my garage so used the table saw and a jigsaw to cut some of the tiles to fit.

The tile does heat buckle when I park the 911 on it after a drive, but goes back to flat every time.

I'm glad I did it, although without tying it into the garage loan, it might have been to pricey for my tastes.

Don't be afraid to go with quality porcelain or ceramic tile. It's actually stronger than concrete and make for a great work surface.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1476305297.jpg

Ballpark idea what it would cost to do an 840 sq ft garage?

I strongly considered it, ended up going epoxy instead. I was concerned about rolling a floor jack over it, sitting jack stands on it, screws falling into the vented tiles, and the ability to clean under the tiles especially in the winter with salty slush melting off of my cars. Love love love the epoxy floor.

I've had Racedeck in my garage for almost 10 years now and still love it! It has held up to spilt brake fluid, exploded epoxy resin (don't ask(, and the world's leakiest Miata. It always cleans up perfectly. After a decade of use it isn't as shiny as it was and there are a few scratches here and there but I'm still very happy with it.

I believe the average price is ~ $2.50 sq/ft for the tiles not including shipping/taxes.

I have thought far too much on garage flooring and still have not pulled the trigger.

- Epoxy coating is best done by professionals. $$$ to install. My ex neighbor paid $3500 or so for his 3 car garage. Looks great, wears well, easy to clean. He has zero complaints.
- RaceDeck is super easy to install and can be disassembled and taken with you if you move. Agree with Matt's observations with not being able to get under the tiles easily to clean. Personally I don't like plastic floors.
- VCT is under $1 sq/ft and used in many commercial settings. Requires glue down install so floor prep (like epoxy) is critical. Damaged tiles are easily replaced and floor can take a ton of abuse. Clean and wax to your tastes.
- Acid stain and clear coat is what I am leaning towards. Very inexpensive. I stained my outdoor cooktop (concrete) with 2 earth colored stains and with the clear applied it looked like fine crafted leather. Downside is the floor would be ice-like slippery when wet. The clear coat will seal and protect the floor from fluids/stains.

I should probably replace a few tiles that have been drilled through or been melted with a blow torch

BTW - I did the bigfoot tiles from Greg Smith Equipment. They had the best price and honored one of the rates I saw on ebay (turned out to be less than 1/2 price of racedeck)
