Any Carrier HVAC pros here? Router password

Hello,

Are there any Carrier HVAC pros here who can help me get the admin password for the TP-Link TL-WR741ND Wifi router Carrier supplies with their Infinity thermostats?

I connected my thermostats to my own Wifi network and have had zero problems. So now I am left with some useless routers in their original boxes. Can someone provide me with Carrier's password schema, for example, is the password the last 6 digits of the serial number of MAC address? I would really like to use the router in my garage to boost Wifi coverage in that part of the house.

Thanks,
Neil

It would appear that you might be locked out from accessing the admin functions.

Did you look to see if the default PW is listed on the bottom tag of the router?

Do a Google search and you will find this question asked several times but no one has an answer. The FAQ I posted a link to suggests that there is no access to the admin functions. Clearly Carrier has the routers modified.

Just offering a possible suggestion.
Many other companies have their own/branded routers made for them by the major players, and still have the default keys listed on the bottom. If not, I'd at least try the common ones like "admin", "1234567890", etc.

Here, these took about 5 seconds to find:

Yes, I saw all of those and none supply an answer that works with the Carrier-supplied router.

The first link has some good info. Skimming a few posts therein, it may be the case that the Carrier router function is limited to just the HVAC /T-stat system.
Even if were possible to use them outside of the HVAC system, it sounds like you have to register through the Carrier (Infinity) website to even gain access to the router dashboard/UI. Doesn't sound very promising...

Thanks. I was hoping some HVAC pro knew how to login into the router so I could reuse it to extend my range. Everything else works fine though.

I wonder if you can reflash it with another system like dd-wrt?

Is there a reset pin hole on the router somewhere?

In those links, you find that someone tried resetting the router and it does not reset to the default username and password used by the retail version of the router.

You need admin access to reflash...
