Tire recommendations for wife's 2000 528i

I posted this on the BMW board as well, but thought I'd tap into the collective wisdom here as well. I'm hoping this doesn't get OT'd.

I looking for tire recommendations for my wife's 2000 528i. Its purely a highway cruiser - she's not into any sort of performance driving, etc. so something like Michelin Pilots are wasted. Besides, that's what we have the 911 for right? There, now its on topic for this board!

I did a search in the BMW archives and didn't come up with much.

I'm looking for a tire that is good in both dry and wet - don't need anything for the SNOW - the car never ventures up to THAT stuff.

Its got the original Michelin MXV Energy's (green) that came with the car - 58,000 miles and now needing to be replaced.

Anyone have experience with the Dunlop SP5000's? Reviews on TireRack were good.

Other suggestions?

thanks all.

Steve,

If performance and or snow are not issues, just go with a good inexpensive tire. They're all pretty close....

I've got Dunlops that will need to be replaced soon, but I'm going to be looking for "cheaper" tires because I don't need any bells or whistles.

They can answer all your questions, and give you a great deal on tires.

i have always run p6000's on bmw's, they're great, cheapish, and esp. safe in the wet.

I second the P6000s for BMWs.

I have an ageing set on the '89 Cab, but they're going to make room for some Yoko AVS next time around.

Another good tyre for BMWs is the Dunlop W-10 (Formula R). I had a set on my old 535i hot-rod. They cost a few bucks more than the run of the mill tyres, but they stuck like poo to a blanket...
