Places you'd like to see but not badly enough to make the trek

I'll start out with a place that my pool Junkie honorary nephew claims is pool heaven on earth.

Fargo Billiards | You Gotta See This Place

So, any places you'd like to see but wouldn't really bother seeing unless you happened to be in the area?

Might make for an interesting list...

Salma Hayek's inner thigh?

I would like to see the top of Mt Saint Helens but hear the hike is not so much fun.
Love to see the Louvre but from the west coast that is a heck of a flight and a big pile of $$.
Also would like to see Rome (if we ever have the time and money I would combine France/Italy).

St. Helens is cool. Do it. Make sure there is snow to fill in the voids around the waist high boulders.

Snow

I'd like to travel to the various places that I've lived around the country and the world just to see how they've changed since I was there.

Sea of tranquility

Also Easter Island

scottmandue 10-15-2016 04:29 PM

Antarctica

To be honest not many man made things I would go out of my way to see... maybe the pyramids (not going to happen), the gateway arch (doable), New York and New Orleans are on my buckler list... and Nashville..

For a long time I wanted to see the Taj Mahal but after 9/11 and subsequent events anything with an Islamic connection has been relegated to the "who could be bothered?" list.

Should I be ashamed of myself?

Pretty much exactly the reason I won't see the pyramids, a shame really because I find ancient Egypt fascinating and would love to see the ruins.

I could say the same thing about China, possibly the oldest culture on the planet and lots of cool stuff to see, but I would be uncomfortable with the political environment.

Besides there is plenty of cool historical stuff in Europe and the UK we have yet to see.

Well ashamed, no. But that's bloody stupid thinking.

The Taj Mahal? Don't be foolish. The site if now controlled by a country that is mostly Hindu. It is a gem of mankind. I've been at least 5 times now.

scottmandue 10-15-2016 09:17 PM

Did someone sat Taj Mahal?

What volatile political climate exists in China? I assure you, you can go to every major historical or cultural site there and, aside from the portrait of Mao on the front gate to the Forbidden City, you will see zero sign of politics. Since they don't have elections, you won't see any political tv commercials or yard signs either. There is zero anti-Americanism there. You won't meet a rude person. I can't think of a more stable, exciting place to visit than China. Been there four times and can't wait to go back.

Drive to Prudhoe Bay via the Alcon Hwy then Dalton. There are too many places to dream in the world.

How about the front of a fast moving peloton?

masraum 10-16-2016 07:23 AM

Mount Rushmore
Petrified Forest

Drive up to Big Bear for lunch in the winter and have a snowball fight.
Then dash back to the coast before the day starts to cool down up there.
It's like a mini winter wonderland.

Next?

Cheers Richard

Group of us did that one weekend in HS. Got a wild hair on a Friday night and drove from OKC to the Colorado mountains until we found some snow, Colorado Springs. Had a snowball fight, then drove back home to OKC.
