				"Detect Vin" car scam?

I'm trying to sell a car on Craigslist and after dealing with several scammers: See here What's the PayPal scam here? I get a response from what appears to be an actual potential buyer. Long story short - He ends up asking if I could provide him a VIN report and suggests using "Detect Vin" because it's cheaper than Carfax. I was 99% there and said to myself, "I have never heard of Detect Vin, I'm going to Google them". This is what I came up with: is detectvin.com a scam or legit | detectvin.com trust reviews |check detectvin.com for fraud and risk | is detectvin.com safe or fake Has anyone heard of this service before or scam? I am becoming more and more convinced that the brilliant people of this world are scammers, hackers, and con men. They are brilliant! Why work an honest job for "the man" making peanuts when you can make millions being a scammer. Un-freakin-believable

There is also a scam going around where people ask you to run a Carfax using the link they provide.

Not sure that I'd trust a web site that is less than 15 days, old, hosted on the same server as other known scam sites, and whose owner uses a third-party service to conceal his identity, but YMMV.

Why should he care about how much money YOU spend on it? He is steering you to a site he chose. You must ask yourself WHY. Maybe he has no intention of buying your car, but has a vested interest in seeing the Direct VIN site getting revenue. Maybe he is a paid shill from a third world country - getting a cut for every person he steers that way. Or maybe the site is just harvesting credit card and personal info from unwary suckers. If you want to move forward, tell him to buy his own damn report, and that you will reimburse him after the sale. Or tell him to choke on a back of dildos.

I like the choking on the back of dildo's response. LOL I responded with " this website is a scam, If you decide to buy the car I'll purchase a Carfax before final transaction to ease your mind". My guess is I won't hear from this guy again.

Moral of the story.....don't open any links from anyone, and don't follow buyers advice about the way they want to buy the car. I often tell guys who want to pay with a cashier's cheque through their shipping agent to tell the shipping agent to bring cash (non-sequential, small bills). | ||

| Burn the fire. |
It's a scam. Buy a "report" through some no-name company. Now they got your CC# and billing details.
