Awesome! Thanks for sharing that. Winter can really suck here but the rest of the year isn't too bad. ;)
We took our honeymoon, in the 911, to the UP and drove all over. It was September so the colors weren't as intense but it was beautiful. |
That's just spectacular! Thanks

Beautiful!
Thanks, Steve. I have a sister-in-law from Wakefield and was up there for the wedding back in the late 70's. We toured the UP and I was amazed at the gorgeous scenery. This was in the summer. Chilly nights! |
I miss Fall in the East.

What part? I'm in Houghton almost every year.

Tahquamenon falls is near Paradise...which is on the eastern end of the UP, about 60 miles from Sault Ste Marie |
Very cool photo. I just spent several days in the U.P. last week - Newberry (near Tahquamenon), Baraga, Houghton, Copper Harbor, down to Wasau & Green Bay, WI and then over to St. Ignace. Colors were spectacular.

For reference: a little html glitch is happening on my screen.
(I use NoScript blocker for latest Firefox.) The picture doesn't appear and is displayed as a white square. It's probably hosted/embedded from 'roundme dot com', but a click-to-link icon doesn't appear when scrolling over the picture either. The 'roundme' website is also a blank screen. |
It's one of those 360-deg pics from a drone, but here's the general idea ....

thx Curt. I'd concur with the fall colors of the UP.
Stayed up near Copper Harbor a while ago (there was a great German restaurant/hotel near the tip back then btw). Road and Track magazine had the drive in their top 10 list. Did the Quincy Mine tour. Fantastic experience. Those import Finns had it rough back then. Did a quick tour through a family B&B in an immaculate restored victorian. There is also a world class mountain bike trail somewhere up there. It's rustic for the most part, and driving across through the center of the UP from Mackinac was a chore, but worth it. |
Nature is awe inspiring.
Thanks for sharing. |
If you are near Taq falls, you need to check out White fish point where the lighthouse and shipwreck museum are. The Edmond Fitzgerald went down about 5 miles off shore in a November gale, and even in the Summer, the water is too cold to wade for very long.

I'll be about 8 miles outside Crystal Falls on Nov. 15th. Deer Camp. I feel blessed to cross the Mackinac Bridge with dad driving his ragged F-350.

I only eat fish if I'm within a couple of hundred yards of the body of water they came from. These all fit the bill and have the best fresh-caught fish anywhere: Carla's Restaurant in Baraga, Brown's Fisheries in Paradise, and Timmy Lee's in St. Ignace. As a bonus, all look like 'hole in the wall' type places  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1477158422.jpg |
Fall colors on top of Brockway Mountain overlooking Copper Harbor. Check out the thunderstorm rolling across Lake Superior while we were shooting this.
