Dell laptop low battery warning popup
How do I adjust the low battery warning popup? Was working on battery, the popup appeared and shut down after 10 seconds. I need a little more warning.....Dell 1720.
Fortunately I was just surfing lesbian midget wrestling porn but if was working on a document or something I would not have had time to save it.....I checked the battery settings adjusted everything back to factory specs but nothing on a low battery warning, warning tweak. Just inactivity dimming or shutdown time adjustment..... Battery was at 2% after hooking up the charger, No joy on Google or at Dell. Is this something in the BIOS or motherboard?

Not sure what OS you are running, but if it's Win7 or 10 just find your way to the control panel, and click on "power options". From there, you should see different power settings/options. Click on "change plan settings" for whichever plan you have selected, and then click on "change advanced power settings". Then scroll down to the very bottom "+" tab labeled "battery". From there you will be able to set different time intervals/actions/notifications for the battery. Good luck...

When you only have 10 seconds between warning and shutdown, that either sounds like it is time to get a new battery or you need to recalibrate the battery meter.

My money is on the battery being junk. There's no way to compensate for a battery that goes from "warning" to "critical, bail/save yourself" charge levels in seconds. It looks like it holds a charge - until you actually try to use it. Typical "old battery" problem.

It lasts about 90 minutes when streaming video.

The computer should have been warning you at 15-20% remaining.
Sounds like a new battery is needed. Looks to be about $20-35 on Amazon (for comparison) Also: -Hit CNTRL/ALT/DEL and kill off the parasite processes running in the background. This includes cameras and microphones not needed for the moment, updaters, and programs which want to automatically start up on their own. All those suck the life out of personal property. -Do disk cleanup, defrag, and keep things lighter for the HD. -Reduce the monitor settings a notch. -Keep it charged up. But un-plug after it is charged. Last edited by john70t; 10-21-2016 at 02:53 PM.. |

Then the warning popup is embedded? I can see it discharging quicker due to age but why would the the popup for time to die change?

With a bum battery, the voltage can drop off dramatically near the end, instead of taper off gradually. I currently have the same issue with my phone. When new, the battery would still give me plenty of time when it reached 10%. Now, when it reaches 10% it will die completely within a matter of seconds if I don't plug it in immediately. I still get a reasonable amount of time per charge, but it's noticeably less than when new, and it drops like a rock near the end now. Time for a new battery soon... |
