Anyone have the formula for hexagonal packing of circles in a rectangle?
Actually this is a Porsche Technical question.
Do any math gurus know How many 7/32" circles can be hexagonally packed into a 2" x 6" rectangle? Or better yet, does anyone have a link to an online calculator to figure this problem out? Below you will find a photo which may help explain my query. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1477366972.jpg Thanks for your help |
It looks like 247? Calculated it as 15 rows of 9, separated by 14 rows of 8.
|
Sorry, math was wrong - it is 16 rows of 9, separated by 15 rows of 8, adding up to 291 in total.

Thanks
The math looks good to me |
Circles within Rectangles
265 per above site (full circles only) - but your dimensions are English- I imagine that sticker is actual dimensioned in the metric world - do I don't know how accurate your 7/32 circle measurement is. |

It used to be that you could get replacement VIN stickers. Can you still get them?

Disclaimer: I have no financial relationship/association with this individual.
There is an eBay seller/Pelican member from Poland who will replicate the door jamb sticker. I hesitate to call it a Vin Sticker, though the Vin is on it. He customizes it for each buyer. Detail is pretty good, he even includes the perforated holes in the sticker. (The ones I am trying to recreate) Price around one hundred ish. Seller's name is CarBone. He actually has a running thread on the 911 for sale side. Many Pelicans have used his products. |

I think that's the guy... |
We used to buy ours at the dealer. I'm guessing that's not possible if they are making reproduction stickers.
