Would sound sort of terrible, but she kept her own name, Abedin.

Too lazy to do a search here but I'm pretty sure that there's another thread dealing with other "unfortunate" names.

But WTH, I'll start.....

My nephew's 5th grade teacher a few years ago......Rhoda Dyck......IT'S TRUE, OK!!

Mr Whitekeys, who owned Chilcoot Charlies in Anchorage, back in the late 80's, found a guy in the phone book from Fairbanks with the name, Dick Flopalotofit. (flop-a-lot-of-it). He built part of his show around the name.

I grew up in Richmond and remember watching him race at San Jose in the early to mid 1970s. His daughter drove a nice two-tone tan/brown '65 Falcon with Gran Torino wheels. I think he was a Norton rider at the time.

My GF was explaining to her cousin about in England how they are combining surnames to make one new name. Her and I would be (Douglas + Bateson) Dateson.

Her cousin Ms Coombes married to Mr Bunt; said "I don't think that's such a good idea."

I know, right? It's unfortunate that the name he preferred took on derogatory tone after his racing career. Never heard of him before I saw 'On Any Sunday' about 20 years ago, but like all of the people in the film, he looked like a happy man enjoying what he loves to do. Haven't heard a bad thing about the fellow since I've known who he was. Even Bruce Brown's commentary about him in the movie referred to his great personality and strength of character.
