That's fascinating. What kind of material are you removing, and what else happens when it's removed?

This ship arrived at our port laden with ammonium sulfate, fertilizer, for sale to the local farming. We off loaded the A.S. on behalf of the buyer. Then we clean up the mess before the ship departs.

The vessel then left in ballast for ports unknown. In ward draught
of around 8 meters and departed (see picture) with a bit less than 5 meters draught. (Draft in US).

Thanks for looking. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1478301341.jpg

What if any precautions do you take as far as venting, is there a danger of explosion?

A930Rocket 11-04-2016 03:43 PM

Does it matter that there is a little bit of material left over?

Is it ok to mix loads?

Hatches are kept wide open, we off load with 5 t grab buckets . Buckets are not electric or hydraulic. We have to be careful at all times, no smoking, no fuel leaks, no electrical cables. We can't even say the word explosion. Products are not mixed, least not in one hold. This ship had two products A.S. and Calcium ammonium nitrate CAN. All of it nasty stuff. We off load a lot of AN ammonium nitrate. I'm on "pins and needles" the entire time till we get
finished. Armed guards and closed entrance at all times on Ports these days.

Good money though, buys a lot of cars. My boss, big time car guy.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1478304200.jpg

When we're done cleaning, you could eat off of the floors. We sweep everything clean. Get high marks for this, and it helps with business.

It's work I enjoy and we're proud of what we do, and I think fairly good at it. Thanks for looking.
