FWIW, I was "triggered" by the memory of the Carrera GT and the lawsuit against Porsche. Went off a bit. |
Yes Glen, you are correct. If it were an old woman it would not be as big a deal.
I bet if you asked a hundred 80 year old women if they had a choice between their death in an accident, or a 25 year old in an accident, at least 95 of them would choose their own death over a 25 year old. |

I am not with the NTSB nor do I have the qualifications to determine what conditions are considered beyond what a car should be able to endure but I do know that -there seems to be a problem with explosion and fire with Teslas AND -There is a design flaw and Tesla has yet to own any part of the blame on any issue. Did Elon read Hillary's book or did Hillary read Elon's? |

Also note that the Mercedes hit a cement column at high speed and did not burst into flame. As far as sedans go, I can not think of a better car to be in than the W140 S-class. |
While this guy is purposely puncturing a battery, it is very possible to have this happen in an accident. The "spark" is generated by the battery and the fuel is in the battery.

I'm thinking that whomever gets the last one produced will have quite the collectors item.

Mercedes makes a heck of a safe car.

I still remember the photo of Diana someone leaked online when they peeled the top back to get her out. Sitting there, dead.

Remember when the Tesla drove over a piece of road debris and caught fire? That's a single fault condition that most any gas-tank vehicle would have survived w/o fire, and likely w/o leakage. red-beard's vid above speaks volumes. And again, the Musk claim was, at one time, Safest cars ever made... or some such. |
Hey! I wonder if Carbon-Tetrachloride could be used as the solvent for the batteries? Non-flammable!

Can't imagine why....... |
I believe after the first Tesla underbody was punctured they made it thicker. This is basically a sheet of armour grade steel that runs the length of the vehicle further increasing its tank like weight.
Thing is, as the saying goes, the mountain always wins. Meaning you can’t control all variables in a crash and even if they made it an inch thick it could still be compromised. |
